Position: Senior Process Engineer – Surface Treatment / Electroplating (Aerospace)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer specializing in electroplating and surface treatment processes for a leading MNC aerospace manufacturing facility.
The role involves managing critical surface finishing processes for aerospace Precision components, ensuring compliance with stringent global aerospace quality standards, and driving process excellence, product quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Engineering & Control
- Manage and optimise electroplating and surface treatment processes,
- including: Chrome, ZincNickel, Cadmium, Nickel, Silver, Gold, Tin plating
- Anodising (BoricSulphuric, Sulphuric, Chromic Acid)
- Chemical conversion coatings and passivation
- Electroless nickel (various phosphorus grades)
- Maintain critical process parameters such as pH, temperature, concentration, dosing, and agitation within specifications.
- Conduct bath preparation, replenishment, and analysis for plating and pretreatment processes.
Quality, Testing & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with AS9100D, NADCAP, and aerospace customer specifications.
- Support and participate in customer audits and regulatory inspections.
- Oversee product testing and validation, including:
- Coating thickness measurement (XRF, Eddy Current, Magnetic methods)
- Microhardness testing
- Corrosion testing (Salt Spray)
- Hydrogen embrittlement evaluation
- Implement and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
New Product Development & Process Validation
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and First Article Inspection (FAI) readiness.
- Develop and validate new plating processes and surface treatment methods.
- Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and technical documentation.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
- Identify root causes of plating defects and implement corrective solutions.
- Drive Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
- Improve process efficiency, yield, and cost optimization.
- Lead innovations in jig design, masking techniques, and plating methodologies.
Chemical & Environmental Management
- Handle effluent treatment systems (ETP) and ensure environmental compliance.
- Monitor chemical usage, consumables, and inventory control.
- Conduct bath analysis including titration, conductivity, and TDS measurement.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical / Metallurgical / Mechanical Engineering or related field.
5-7+ years of experience in electroplating / surface treatment processes, preferably in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
Strong exposure to aerospace quality standards and audits (AS9100, NADCAP).
Experience working with global OEM specifications and requirements.
