The Senior Pre-Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting sales and business development by providing technical design, accurate cost estimation, and value-engineered solutions during the pre-award stage. The role bridges sales, engineering, and procurement to deliver technically compliant, competitive, and commercially viable proposals for ELV, BMS, and integrated building systems projects.
Pre-Sales & Technical Support
Act as the primary technical point of contact for sales and business development teams.
Analyze client requirements, RFPs, RFQs, and tender documents.
Attend pre-bid meetings, client presentations, and technical clarifications.
Support post-tender negotiations and technical-commercial discussions.
Design & Engineering
Develop concept and preliminary designs for systems such as:
ELV Systems (CCTV, Access Control, Structured Cabling, PA/VA, IPTV, Intercom, Security Systems)
BMS and smart building solutions
Integrated systems and third-party interfaces
Prepare system architecture, layouts, block diagrams, and design narratives.
Propose technically compliant and value-engineered solutions aligned with client requirements and budgets.
Estimation & Commercial Support
Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and pricing models.
Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis from drawings and specifications.
Obtain and evaluate vendor and supplier quotations.
Identify cost risks, assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications.
Support preparation of commercial proposals and compliance matrices.
Vendor & Solution Management
Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to develop optimal technical solutions.
Evaluate new technologies and products for competitive advantage.
Maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners.
Knowledge & Team Support
Support junior pre-sales, design, and estimation engineers.
Contribute to standardisation of pre-sales templates, pricing tools, and design guidelines.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, standards, and competitor offerings.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related Engineering discipline.
Experience
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, with strong exposure to design and estimation.
Proven experience supporting large-scale commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.
Background with system integrators, ELV/BMS contractors, or technology solution providers preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong design knowledge of ELV, BMS, and integrated building systems.
Proven experience in estimation, BOQ preparation, and tender pricing.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and proposal tools.
Strong understanding of relevant standards (NFPA, IEC, ISO, TIA/EIA, BACnet, Modbus).
