Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer with deep expertise in advanced DAX, complex data modelling, and rule-based reporting, in highly complex business environments, where reporting logic involves multi-layered calculations, dynamic measures, and intricate business rules across large datasets. This is a full-time remote role for a Senior Power BI Developer. The responsibilities include developing, optimizing, and maintaining high-quality dashboards, creating and managing data models, implementing data warehousing solutions, and overseeing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes. The Senior Power BI Developer will analyze complex datasets to deliver actionable insights and ensure data visualizations meet business requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders will be a key aspect of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Advanced DAX & Business Logic Implementation

• Design and develop complex DAX measures and calculated columns for:
• Multi-layered KPIs
• Conditional aggregations
• Time intelligence scenarios
• Scenario-based calculations
• Translate complex business rules into optimized DAX expressions
• Build reusable DAX patterns and calculation frameworks

 

Data Modelling (Critical Responsibility)

• Design robust semantic models using:
• Star & Snowflake schemas
• Fact & dimension tables
• Implement:
• Role-playing dimensions
• Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD)
• Hierarchies and relationships
• Ensure models support high-performance DAX execution

 

Performance Optimization

• Optimize Power BI reports for:
• Large datasets
• Complex DAX calculations
• Use techniques such as:
• Query reduction
• Aggregations & composite models
• Efficient filter context handling
• Analyze performance using:
• Performance Analyzer
• DAX Studio
• VertiPaq Analyzer

 

Reporting & Visualization

• Build interactive dashboards and reports with:
• Advanced drilldowns and drill-throughs
• Dynamic filtering and slicers
• Conditional formatting driven by DAX
• Implement pixel-perfect reporting for executive dashboards
• Ensure usability and storytelling aligned with business needs

 

Data Integration & Transformation

• Work with data from:
• Data warehouses / data lakes
• APIs and external systems
• Use Power Query (M language) for data transformation
• Collaborate with ETL teams to ensure data readiness

 

Governance & Best Practices

• Define and enforce:
• DAX coding standards
• Naming conventions
• Data modelling best practices
• Implement:
• Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Data validation and reconciliation
• Maintain documentation for complex logic

 

Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with:
• Business stakeholders
• Data engineers
• Convert ambiguous business rules into structured analytical logic
• Provide insights and recommendations based on data
• Advanced DAX techniques

 

Best Practices

• Data modelling strategies
• Conduct code reviews and performance audits

• Strong experience in Power Query (M)

 

Data & Modelling Expertise

• Deep understanding of:

Database & SQL
