Hiring: Senior Power BI Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Power BI Developer to join our team in Bangalore. This is a hybrid role suited for professionals who have strong expertise in Power BI, advanced SQL, and GitHub-based version control. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable BI solutions that deliver accurate, actionable business insights.
Role Overview
As a Senior Power BI Developer, you will work closely with data engineers, analysts, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust dashboards, reports, and data models. You will play a key role in ensuring performance optimization, governance, and best practices in BI development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop end-to-end Power BI dashboards and reports with a strong focus on performance, usability, and accessibility.
- Build and optimize semantic data models, including star schema, relationships, and advanced DAX measures.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, including joins, CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to define data requirements, ingestion processes, and transformations.
- Implement version control best practices using Git/GitHub, including pull requests and code reviews.
- Troubleshoot performance and data quality issues across reports and datasets.
- Maintain documentation for data models, business logic, and reporting workflows.
- Mentor junior developers and promote BI development best practices.
- Support ad-hoc analytics requests and participate in sprint planning and stakeholder discussions.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI development in production environments.
- Strong expertise in Power BI (reports, datasets, dashboards, DAX, row-level security).
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization and indexing knowledge.
- Practical experience with Git/GitHub for source control and collaboration.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, normalization, denormalization, SCD).
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, AWS Redshift, or BigQuery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Power Apps or Power Platform integrations.
- Familiarity with dbt for data transformations and testing.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions).
- Basic knowledge of Python or R for analytics support.
- Experience with dataset governance and certification processes.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
Relevant certifications in Power BI or Azure are a plus.
