Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Bengaluru. The Senior Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced Power BI dashboards and reports. Key day-to-day tasks will include creating data models, extracting and transforming data for ETL processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, and delivering actionable insights through analytics. The role involves ensuring solutions are scalable, efficient, and meet the organization’s strategic data goals.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and develop interactive, scalable, and performance-optimized Power BI dashboards and reports.
· Translate complex business requirements into data models and visual analytics solutions.
· Write advanced SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
· Perform data modeling using Star and Snowflake schemas.
· Develop and optimize DAX measures (including complex calculations and time intelligence).
· Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and dynamic RLS in Power BI.
· Work with large datasets and optimize report performance (Import vs DirectQuery).
· Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to understand upstream data pipelines.
· Support ETL/ELT processes and perform data transformations using SQL and cloud tools.
· Ensure data accuracy, governance, and best practices in BI development.
Required Technical Skills
· 5+ years of experience in Power BI development and Business Intelligence.
· Strong expertise in SQL (Joins, Subqueries, CTEs, Window Functions, Aggregations, Performance Tuning).
· Advanced DAX knowledge (CALCULATE, FILTER, ALL, SELECTEDVALUE, HASONEVALUE, Time Intelligence functions).
· Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices.
· Experience with Power Query for data transformation.
· Knowledge of Import mode vs DirectQuery/Live connections.
· Good understanding of ETL vs ELT concepts.
· Basic to intermediate exposure to Azure Data Engineering tools (Azure SQL, Data Factory, Databricks preferred).
· Understanding of database concepts such as Views, Indexing, Transactions (Delete, Drop, Truncate).
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working with global enterprise clients (FMCG/Manufacturing preferred).
· Experience handling large-scale sales, supply chain, or financial datasets.
· Strong stakeholder communication and requirement-gathering skills.
