Role Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Power BI and Microsoft Fabric Expert Consultant with proven experience in AI-driven development acceleration to support the BI Center of Excellence in solving advanced analytics technology challenges and accelerating innovation initiatives.
This consultant will serve as a deep technical specialist for complex architecture topics, performance optimization, advanced semantic modeling, Fabric modernization, and AI-enabled engineering productivity acceleration.
The role will work closely with the BI & Analytics Architecture & Innovation Lead to translate architectural vision into scalable technical solutions, reusable accelerators, and enterprise-ready best practices.
A key success factor for this role is the ability to leverage GenAI, Copilot, automation, and reusable AI-based engineering patterns to significantly reduce development cycle times across BI and analytics product delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Technical Problem Solving
- Resolve complex Power BI and Microsoft Fabric technical issues across enterprise-scale deployments.
- Lead root-cause analysis for performance, refresh, semantic model, and capacity-related challenges.
- Troubleshoot cross-platform integration issues involving Fabric, Azure, Databricks, SAP, and enterprise source systems.
- Support complex multi-market rollout scenarios and global deployments.
AI-Driven Development Acceleration
- Design and implement AI-powered accelerators to improve BI engineering productivity.
- Leverage Microsoft Copilot, GenAI assistants, prompt libraries, code generation frameworks, and automation scripts to reduce dashboard and semantic model development effort.
- Build reusable AI-assisted assets for:
- DAX generation and optimization
- semantic model documentation
- test case generation
- data quality rule creation
- lineage documentation
- dashboard design recommendations
- migration code conversion
- Identify high-friction development activities and introduce AI-based automation patterns to streamline delivery.
- Establish measurable improvements in time-to-build, debugging effort, and POC turnaround time.
Innovation & Proof of Concepts
- Build rapid prototypes and technical Proof of Concepts for emerging Fabric capabilities.
- Evaluate new Microsoft roadmap features and assess enterprise applicability.
- Experiment with advanced capabilities including:
- Direct Lake
- OneLake shortcuts
- Real-time analytics
- Data Activator
- Copilot-assisted BI development
- AI-driven dashboard automation
- Recommend scalable adoption patterns for successful POCs.
Semantic Modeling & Performance Optimization
- Design advanced enterprise semantic models for high-scale reporting use cases.
- Optimize DAX calculations, composite models, incremental refresh, aggregations, and Direct Lake performance.
- Improve dashboard responsiveness, refresh SLAs, and workspace scalability.
- Support enterprise standards for model reusability and governed self-service.
Accelerator & Reusable Assets Development
- Develop reusable technical assets to accelerate CoE delivery, such as:
- semantic model templates
- deployment pipelines
- CI/CD automation scripts
- Fabric monitoring dashboards
- Power BI governance scripts
- performance diagnostic toolkits
- AI prompt libraries for BI engineering
- code generation templates
- Contribute to the CoE’s certified accelerator library
Required Education, Experience and Skill Set:
- 8+ years of deep hands-on Power BI architecture and development experience
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Fabric enterprise implementations
- Demonstrated success in using AI / GenAI to accelerate BI and analytics engineering delivery
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Copilot
- prompt engineering for BI use cases
- code generation workflows
- automation frameworks
- AI-enabled documentation and testing
- Strong mastery of:
- advanced DAX optimization
- semantic modeling
- Direct Lake architecture
