Role Description The Senior PLC Programmer will lead the design, development, and testing of PLC-based control systems for industrial automation projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and modifying PLC logic, HMI/SCADA screens, and communication interfaces; reviewing functional specifications; and collaborating with electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration. The role includes on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization at client locations, as well as documentation of control strategies, I/O lists, and user manuals. The Senior PLC Programmer will mentor junior programmers, support project planning, and engage with clients to clarify requirements and provide technical guidance. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Chennai, with a mix of on-site work at customer facilities and some work-from-home flexibility, depending on project needs.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in PLC programming and configuration on major platforms (e.g., Siemens, Delta, Mitsubishi fuji,wecon Schneider, or similar), including ladder logic, function blocks, and structured text.
- Hands-on experience with HMI and SCADA development (screen design, alarm management, data logging, trending) and integration with PLC systems.
- Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC) and network architectures used in automation.
- Practical knowledge of electrical control systems, instrumentation, and panel layouts, with the ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
- Proven background in commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems in manufacturing, process, or utilities environments.
- Experience leading automation projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical mentorship to junior engineers.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation, reporting, and client-facing discussions.
- Ability to work safely on industrial sites, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in a senior or lead PLC programming role, preferably within an industrial automation or system integrator environment.
