Role Description The Senior Planning Engineer is a full-time on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for overseeing project planning and scheduling for complex construction projects. This position involves developing detailed project timelines, resource plans, and work breakdown structures, while monitoring progress against targets and identifying variances. The role includes coordinating with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of planning activities with execution on site. The Senior Planning Engineer will prepare and analyze progress reports, support project control activities, optimize production planning, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within scope. The role also requires active participation in review meetings, clear communication of planning updates, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Planning and Production Planning skills for complex construction projects.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret data, track performance, and support decision-making.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present project status clearly.
- Candidates should possess Project Control skills, including scheduling, progress monitoring, and variance analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline; a master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., PMP, Primavera) is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with project planning software (such as Primavera P6 or MS Project) and MS Excel.
- Proven experience in planning roles within large building or infrastructure projects, preferably in the Indian construction sector.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
