About the Role
The West Bengal State Data Center is the network backbone for dozens of state government departments. As L3 Network Architect, you will be the senior technical authority for the network and network-security fabric — architecting solutions, leading complex implementations, owning the toughest escalations, and mentoring the L1/L2 team. This is the role for an engineer who has lived through enough networks to know what works, what breaks, and what to design around.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and lead implementation of enterprise networking and network-security solutions across Core/Distribution/Access and Spine-Leaf topologies on Cisco / Aruba (and equivalents).
- Lead deployment, hardening, and operation of next-gen firewalls, Anti-DDoS, ADC, WAF, LLB, NIPS, Anti-APT from Fortinet / Palo Alto / Checkpoint.
- Own the most critical escalations — troubleshooting, RCA, and remediation; design out repeat problems.
- Drive change management for major implementations, augmentations, and migrations with zero-defect rollout discipline.
- Be the senior interface with OEM engineering for high-severity cases.
- Mentor L1/L2 engineers; build technical depth across the site team.
- Partner with sales and presales on solution design for augmentation and new opportunities.
What You Bring
- 5–8 years' hands-on experience designing and operating enterprise networks at DC scale.
- Deep, practical knowledge of routing, switching, modern DC fabric topologies (Spine-Leaf), and protocols (OSPF, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, MPLS basics).
- Demonstrated experience implementing and tuning multi-vendor network security stacks (Fortinet / Palo Alto / Checkpoint).
- Strong customer- and OEM-facing communication; comfortable presenting designs and explaining trade-offs.
- CCNP / CCIE / NSE-7+ / PCNSE or equivalent certifications.
- Willingness to be on-call for critical escalations.
