Job Title: Senior MSSQL DBA

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Senior MSSQL DBA to join our Database Operations team. This is an individual contributor role responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting critical Microsoft SQL Server databases in a 24x7 production environment.
The ideal candidate will ensure database availability, performance, integrity, and security, while also contributing to database architecture, optimization, and modernization initiatives. Experience with other RDBMS/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, and automation will be an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 12–14 years of overall experience in database administration.
- Strong experience in L3/L4 production support environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and support Microsoft SQL Server environments across multiple versions (2014–2022).
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations.
- Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure high availability using technologies such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Mirroring, and Replication.
- Monitor database performance and execute performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, execution plans, profiling).
- Handle and resolve critical production incidents (P1/P2) within defined SLAs.
- Provide 24x7 production support and participate in escalation handling.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term fixes and service improvements.
- Design and implement database solutions for medium to complex project requirements.
- Implement and manage database security (access control, encryption, auditing, compliance, vulnerability assessments).
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, SQL Agent Jobs, and SSIS.
- Set up and manage monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic) for proactive alerting.
- Perform capacity planning, trend analysis, and provide insights for optimization and cost efficiency.
- Support cloud-based database environments (Azure/AWS) including migrations and hybrid setups.
Technical Skills Required
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration.
- Deep understanding of database architecture, design, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with HA/DR solutions (AlwaysOn AG, Clustering, Replication, etc.).
- Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows OS and related administrative commands.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL, SSIS).
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and database services (IaaS & PaaS).
- Exposure to other RDBMS/NoSQL databases is a plus.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive database and cloud initiatives.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
- Contribute to enterprise-level architecture and design discussions.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in high-pressure and uncertain environments.
- Proactively identify risks and drive solutions with a pragmatic approach.
