Job Description
As an Analyst on the Nexus project, you will support the quality assurance of Nexus — an internal tool that is transforming the way we conduct early model testing. You will execute test plans, verify Nexus functionality, and help ensure the platform delivers accurate and reproducible results across catastrophe model workflows. Working at the intersection of science, finance, and modern software engineering, you will develop foundational expertise in the Nexus platform and early-stage model testing processes. If you care about quality and want to grow your career in QA and analytical tooling, this role offers an excellent entry point for professional and technical development.
Responsibilities
- Read Nexus requirement documents and understand the scope of platform feature updates, early model testing enhancements, and identify the scope of QA testing for each Nexus release
- Develop an understanding of natural catastrophes such as Earthquake, Cyclone and Floods etc. and key parameters that drive the occurrence and spread of any natural event. Further understand the process of generation of stochastic Models and the modelling approach.
- Assist in preparing detailed test plans for Nexus features and early model testing workflows, helping ensure coverage of platform functionality, data integrity, and model output accuracy
- Timely execution of Nexus test plans aligned with the project’s release cadence and sprint delivery schedules
- Validate that Nexus produces consistent and accurate early model testing outputs across environments, comparing results against legacy workflows and expected benchmarks
- Perform statistical and mathematical analytics on Model outputs
- Support validation of the scientific and financial algorithms implemented in Nexus, verifying outputs against expected results and flagging discrepancies
- Thorough understanding of every test scenario/feature and ensuring all aspects are tested
- Participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to internal documentation
- Present developed test plans and test results conducted to the peer groups
- Assist with project time estimation under senior analyst guidance
- Tracking requirement updates and estimating its impact on project testing and timelines
- Log and clearly document defects, collaborating with the Nexus development team to support timely resolution
- Contribute to technical reports and documentation of analytical work and test procedures
- Support preparation of technical model studies and participate in internal training sessions
- Participate in peer review processes, learning from feedback on your own work
- Contribute to test automation efforts for Nexus’s early model testing pipelines under senior team guidance
- Follow through on assigned tasks and testing processes from start to completion
- Provide regular QA status updates to Nexus product owners and stakeholders, enabling transparency and informed decision-making on release readiness
- Implement and expand automated testing practices throughout the Nexus development lifecycle
- Collaborate with peer teams to facilitate timely completion of projects
- Ability to multitask across concurrent Nexus workstreams, including feature testing, regression testing, and early model validation
- Build working familiarity with the Nexus platform, its key features, and integration points with existing systems such as Touchstone
Qualifications
- Graduate/Post-Graduate in Engineering, Science or Mathematics from a reputable academic institution or undergraduates from top rated schools with excellent credentials
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in QA, testing, or analytical roles (internship experience counts), with interest in internal tooling and platform product quality
- Working knowledge of relational databases such as MS-SQL, with ability to write and interpret queries for test validation
- Experience with large data sets analysis and manipulation
- Experience with statistical, mathematical software packages like R/Python; or generally with analytical software; Good working knowledge in MS Excel; Ability to process geo-spatial data using the standard GIS software, such as QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.

- Exposure to numerical or probabilistic models in engineering, science, catastrophe modeling, finance, or related fields (academic projects count)
- Programming skills to include: numerical, scientific and databases programming
- Proven analytical and problem solving quantitative abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and experience working in distributed and global teams with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively in cross-functional and globally distributed teams
- Familiarity with agile development workflows and an interest in learning CI/CD pipelines and QA’s role in early-stage model testing
- Logical and clear thinker with a structured approach to problem-solving and eagerness to learn
