Job Description: Senior Medical Coder – IVR (Interventional Radiology)
Locations: Mumbai, Maharashtra | Madhapur, Hyderabad
Certification Requirement: CPC (AAPC) – Mandatory Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented IVR Coder to join our Revenue Cycle Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes (ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS) to complex Interventional Radiology procedures, ensuring compliance with US healthcare regulations and optimizing reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
· Specialized Coding: Review and analyze physician documentation, operative reports, and imaging findings to assign accurate codes for vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures.
· Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all coding strictly adheres to CMS guidelines, NCCI edits, and payer-specific requirements to maintain a high quality-accuracy benchmark, typically 95% or higher.
· Documentation Clarification: Identify discrepancies or missing clinical information and collaborate with healthcare providers or clinical teams for documentation improvement.
· Denial Management: Review and resolve coding-related claim denials and rejections to minimize revenue loss.
· System Utilization: Efficiently navigate EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic or 3M Encoder to abstract clinical data and post charges.
· Audit Support: Participate in internal and external quality audits, providing necessary documentation and rationale for coded charts.
Mandatory Qualifications & Skills
· Certification: Active CPC (Certified Professional Coder) is mandatory.
· Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of hands-on experience specifically in IVR/Radiology coding.
· Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of vascular anatomy, catheter placements, and complex surgical procedures.
· Software Proficiency: Experience with US Healthcare billing systems and coding software; proficiency in Epic is highly preferred.
· Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and excellent written/verbal communication for provider interaction.
