Role Description The Team Lead - Medical Coding is responsible for high-quality coding and documentation review to support accurate billing and reimbursement. This role includes assigning and validating appropriate medical codes, reviewing clinical documentation for completeness, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and payer requirements. He/She will work closely with clinical and billing teams to resolve coding discrepancies, reduce denials, and support ongoing revenue integrity initiatives. Daily work also involves staying current with regulatory changes, participating in quality audits, and mentoring junior coders as needed.
Qualifications
- Coding proficiency and experience in medical coding across multiple specialties, with a strong record of accuracy and productivity.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Health Information Management principles to interpret clinical documentation and support compliant coding.
- Relevant certifications in medical coding.
- Familiarity with coding standards, payer rules, and regulatory requirements, including ICD, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
- Experience working in revenue cycle or billing environments, preferably within large provider organizations or RCM firms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research coding issues and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and coding software, along with solid MS Office skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, billing, and operations teams.
- Ability to work on-site in the Pune Division, manage deadlines, and maintain high standards of confidentiality and data security.
- Diploma or degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced training in medical coding is an advantage.
