Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of new product lines in construction automation.This role requires strong hands-on engineering, ownership, and the ability to take products from concept → prototype → field deployment.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Product Design & Development
- Lead mechanical design from concept to production
- Create CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings
- Design for: Strength & durability, Compactness & usability, Real construction site conditions
2. Prototyping & Testing
- Build rapid prototypes and iterate quickly
- Conduct real-world testing at construction sites
- Identify failures and implement design improvements
3. Mechanism & System Design
Design and develop:
- Motion systems (linear, rotary)
- Material handling mechanisms
- Finishing / application systems
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
- Electronics (motors, drivers, sensors)
- Firmware (control systems)
Ensure seamless system integration
5. Manufacturing & Vendor Development
- Work with vendors for fabrication and machining
- Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability)
- Optimize cost, materials, and production processes
6. Field Support & Deployment
- Support on-site testing and pilot deployments
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues in real environments
- Improve reliability based on field feedback
7. Documentation
Maintain:
- CAD files
- BOMs
- Assembly and testing procedures
Required Qualifications Education
- B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of core mechanical design experience within high-stakes industries such as Robotics, Heavy Equipment, or Automotive, with a focus on ruggedized hardware and automated systems.
Technical Skills
Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / similar)
Experience in:
- Sheet metal design
- Welded structures
- Mechanism design
Knowledge of:
- Motors, gearboxes, drivetrains
- Basic structural calculations
Hands-on Skills
- Prototype building & testing
- Working with fabrication, machining, and assembly
- Debugging mechanical failures
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ownership mindset
- Ability to work in fast-paced startup environment
- Good communication and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction equipment or automation systems
- Exposure to hydraulics / pneumatics
- Experience taking products from concept to production
- Familiarity with cost optimization and vendor management
