Senior Mechanical Engineer – LV/MV Switchgear & Power Systems

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of expertise in the mechanical design and development of Power Distribution Centers (PDCs), Power Equipment Centers (PECs), Modular E-Houses, LV/MV Switchgear, Switchboards, and industrial electrical systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience working with switchgear manufacturers and possess in-depth knowledge of mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, enclosures, busbars, and North American standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience in MV/LV Switchgear Mechanical Design, preferably with a switchgear manufacturer.
- Strong hands-on experience with various types of switchgear, switchboards, busbars, circuit breakers, protective relays, and LV/MV panels.
- Excellent knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication, enclosure design, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in reviewing vendor drawings, technical documents, and engineering specifications.
- Practical experience in designing Low-Voltage (LV), Medium-Voltage (MV), and High-Voltage (HV) switchgear and switchboards.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience with LV/MV distribution panels, hybrid generator systems, recloser panels, transformers, electrical enclosures, and busbar systems.
- Experience with products from Siemens, ABB, Schneider Electric, Eaton, or equivalent manufacturers is preferred.
- Strong understanding of North American and Canadian standards, including UL, NEMA, and NEC.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD/design software and related engineering tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the mechanical design and development of complex electro-mechanical systems and components.
- Design and develop LV/MV switchgear, switchboards, distribution panels, enclosures, and related equipment for customer projects.
- Create, review, and approve detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, layouts, and engineering specifications using CAD tools.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs, technical documentation, design reports, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable company standards, customer specifications, industry regulations, and UL/NEMA/NEC requirements.
- Review RFQs, customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to develop accurate project estimates and quotations.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals, cost estimates, BOMs, and engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate with Sales, Project Management, customers, consultants, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to develop competitive and technically sound solutions.
- Review vendor drawings and technical submissions and provide necessary engineering feedback and approvals.
- Evaluate project costs and identify opportunities for value engineering, design optimization, and cost reduction.
- Work closely with Team Leads and Project Managers to manage project schedules, milestones, priorities, and deliverables.
- Provide remote/virtual engineering support to North American manufacturing facilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time project delivery.
- Support continuous improvement of design standards, engineering processes, and product development.
