Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer based in Lucknow, with partial work-from-home flexibility. The role involves leading the design and development of mechanical products and systems. Key responsibilities include creating and reviewing machine designs, utilizing advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product efficiency and performance. The candidate will optimize product designs, contribute to innovation, and ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
This is a senior position within our Mechanical Design function — embedded in high-complexity automation and custom machine-building projects for the diagnostics, medical device, and regulated manufacturing sectors. You will own mechanical design delivery end-to-end: from concept through compliance, customer handover, and post-installation support. You will lead an agile SCRUM-based design team, set quality standards, manage regulatory risk, and be the technical anchor on our most demanding projects. Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design projects from concept to delivery, driving SCRUM team performance and on-time execution
- Own design risk management, safety assessments, and full regulatory compliance including CE marking
- Conduct and oversee internal and external design reviews; enforce quality control standards across all outputs
- Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and report status to senior stakeholders
- Collaborate with the sales function to provide accurate technical pricing inputs
- Champion continuous improvement within the mechanical design discipline — processes, tools, and standards
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through the design phase and beyond installation
- Manage and develop PDM systems; stay ahead of emerging technologies relevant to the function
Required Experience
- 5+ years in a senior mechanical design role within the automation or custom machine-building industry
- Demonstrated experience in regulated environments (medical devices, diagnostics, or equivalent)
- Proven leadership capability — managing teams, driving accountability, and delivering under pressure
- Hands-on experience with safety standards, risk management methodologies, and CE marking processes
- Strong stakeholder management — equally effective with customers, commercial teams, and engineering peers
