Job details:
Candidates from Hyderabad or willing to relocate to Hyderabad will be highly preferred
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design & Automation Engineer with deep expertise in SolidWorks, tooling design, fixture development, and automation for manufacturing environments. The candidate will drive design-to-build execution of equipment, moulds, jigs, fixtures, and automation solutions to improve throughput, repeatability, and product quality for precision silicone moulding operations.
The ideal candidate must have hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, mould tooling, mechanical design and must be capable of taking concepts into production with high practicality. SolidWorks proficiency is mandatory, and strong experience in injection moulding/medical device/precision component industry is highly preferred.
This role demands an engineer with both design creativity and real shop-floor automation implementation ability, not just CAD capability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop moulds, tooling, jigs, fixtures, and automated equipment using SolidWorks 3D CAD.
• Lead concept-to-implementation engineering projects improving process efficiency, quality & ergonomics.
• Integrate mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical components into semi/fully automated systems.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality & Maintenance to identify improvement opportunities and deploy solutions.
• Design and validate inspection/test fixtures to support Quality function.
• Support NPI (New Product Introduction) through concept development and tooling planning.
• Generate detailed technical documentation including 2D drawings, BOMs & validation reports under ISO 13485 & cGMP.
• Partner with toolmakers, machine shops & automation vendors for prototype and industrial builds.
• Support root cause analysis and CAPA activities for tooling/automation issues.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians on design practices.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
Education
• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience
• Minimum 8+ years in mechanical design, tooling, or automation engineering.
• Experience in injection moulding, medical device, silicone moulding or precision manufacturing
preferred.
• Must have hands-on exposure to manufacturing floor processes and tooling build cycles.
Technical Skills (Mandatory)
• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency — assemblies, complex parts, 2D drawings, configurations.
• Strong DFM/DFA knowledge, GD&T, tolerance stack-up & material selection.
• Practical experience in fixture design, mould design, pneumatics/sensors & machine mechanisms.
• Understanding of robotics integration & automation concepts.
• Familiarity with PLC/motion control systems is a plus.
• Experience in ISO 13485, GMP and cleanroom manufacturing considerations preferred.
Preferred Attributes
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to convert design concepts into manufacturable solutions.
• Detail-oriented, structured & capable of managing multiple engineering projects.
• Improvement-focused mindset with strong problem-solving approach.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with production, tooling & suppliers.
Soft Skills
• Excellent analytical mindset & structured problem-solving.
• Clear communicator with engineering documentation accuracy.
• Hands-on, practical, and execution oriented.
• Collaborative & team-driven approach.
Ideal Fit
• Someone from silicone moulding / injection moulding / precision tooling domain.
• A SolidWorks expert with real manufacturing experience, not only design-based exposure.
• Can own projects independently from design → build → validation → implementation.
