This role owns the day-to-day activation financial operations engine supporting commerce media activation teams globally, ensuring campaigns are booked, billed, reconciled, and closed accurately and on time. The role focuses on process execution, financial controls, and quality assurance, partnering closely with onshore Operations, Activation, and Finance stakeholders while operating independently from onshore Commerce Media Operations leadership.
The Director will lead DGS activation financial operations resources, enforce standardized billing and reconciliation processes, and act as the primary offshore escalation point for financial discrepancies, vendor billing issues, and month-end close readiness across commerce media programs.
Core Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Billing Execution
- Own end-to-end billing and reconciliation operations for commerce media investments, spanning retail media networks and affiliate partners.
- Ensure all bookings, insertion orders, and financial entries are accurately set up in Prisma / MediaOcean in alignment with approved budgets and authorizations.
- Lead monthly actualization, reconciliation, and close processes, ensuring billed vs. planned vs. actual spend is accurately tracked and resolved.
- Drive timely resolution of invoice discrepancies, including missing invoices, mismatched spend, or vendor reporting inconsistencies.
- Maintain strict adherence to financial controls, approval requirements, and audit standards across all supported accounts.
Governance, Quality & Standardization
- Enforce standardized billing, reconciliation, and financial QA checklists across DGS teams supporting commerce media.
- Ensure consistent application of client codes, vendor mappings, IO structures, and billing logic across retail media and affiliate investments.
- Track recurring billing or reconciliation issues, identify root causes, and partner with onshore stakeholders to reduce error rates and rework.
DGS Team Leadership & Delivery Management
- Lead and manage a DGS financial operations team dedicated to commerce media billing and reconciliation.
- Set clear delivery standards, SLAs, and quality expectations for booking, billing, and reconciliation workflows.
- Oversee onboarding and training of DGS resources on commerce media–specific financial processes, tools, and platform nuances.
- Monitor workload allocation and throughput to ensure scalable, consistent delivery across accounts.
Cross Functional Collaboration & Escalation
- Act as the primary offshore escalation point for finance related issues impacting commerce media activation.
- Partner with onshore Finance, Commerce Media Operations, and Activation teams to resolve complex billing or pacing issues.
- Support onshore teams with billing readiness, client finance inquiries, and audit support as required.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, reduce reconciliation cycle times, and streamline financial workflows.
- Contribute to the evolution of DGS billing playbooks and best practice documentation for commerce media.
- Support automation or tooling enhancements that improve financial operations efficiency and transparency.
Experience & Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in media financial operations, billing, or reconciliation, with leadership responsibility in a shared services or offshore delivery model.
- Hands-on familiarity with US retail media networks and their operating models, including Amazon Ads, Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Kroger Precision Marketing, Instacart, and similar platforms, with the ability to translate platform nuances into scalable activation standards
- Hands‑on experience with Prisma / MediaOcean and media finance workflows; direct exposure to retail media or performance media billing models strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of media booking, invoicing, reconciliation, accruals, and month-end close processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing and scaling offshore teams with defined SLAs and quality benchmarks.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Effective communicator, comfortable partnering with onshore stakeholders across Operations, Activation, and Finance.
- Process-driven mindset with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
