Job Summary
This role is focused on driving the end-to-end development and execution of low-value plastic recycling projects by identifying high-value downstream markets, optimizing recycling operations, and building strong partnerships with brands, converters, recyclers, and suppliers. The position involves overseeing recycling facility operations, conducting technical research and process trials for flexible plastic recycling, establishing operational SOPs, and ensuring consistent material quality through data-driven process optimization. The role also requires active engagement with sustainability and packaging teams, monitoring industry trends and regulatory developments, managing project execution and vendor coordination, and developing innovative business models to expand the adoption and commercial utilization of recycled plastic materials.
Job Responsibilities
Customer Engagement:
- Maintain consistent communication with key stakeholders, providing project milestones and technical presentations to address specific inquiries or project deep-dives.
- Interpret and integrate customer viewpoints into project workflows to ensure high-satisfaction delivery.
- Develop and pitch innovative business models to clients, leveraging their feedback to refine strategies and tapping into their networks to accelerate organizational growth.
Research
- Execute comprehensive primary and secondary research on the recycling landscape for low-value plastics to identify untapped recovery potential.
- Direct experimental trials for the mechanical recycling of flexible plastics, maintaining rigorous documentation of methodologies and results.
- Establish and "lock in" critical process parameters (temperature, pressure, residence time) to ensure consistent output quality.
- Identify high-value applications for recyclates and lead the compounding process to tailor material properties for specific industrial end-uses.
- Facilitate initial material dispatches to downstream partners to evaluate the commercial adaptability and performance of low-value plastic recyclates.
- Evaluated and selected national and global machinery vendors to support the deployment of recycling technologies.
Data Management
- Systematically captured and analyzed comprehensive operational parameters to establish a baseline for recycling efficiency.
- Identified and calibrated critical processing variables (e.g., melt temperature, screw speed, and filtration levels) specifically for the mechanical recycling of low-value flexible plastics.
Project Management
- Utilize Zoho Projects to delegate daily tasks and monitor team performance, ensuring high levels of accountability and throughput.
- Execute daily project monitoring and provide strategic interventions to optimize time management and resource allocation.
- Facilitate frequent communication with material suppliers to elevate input quality and with processing centers to track project velocity.
- Coordinate a dual-track testing protocol involving both in-house analysis and certified external laboratories.
- Spearhead the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all processing stages to ensure operational consistency.
- Oversee project database evaluation while leading the strategic identification of machinery vendors, feedstock suppliers, and offtake customers.
Business Development
- Identifying end destinations for recycled plastics recovered from low value plastics
- Networking with the brands to understand their products and the scope for utilizing the recycled materials in their product
- Connecting with sustainability and packaging team of brands to understand more about future trend of plastic packaging
