Role Description The Senior Manager Legal – Real Estate will oversee and manage all legal matters related to RISHI’s real estate projects and corporate operations. This full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Kolkata Area includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating property-related contracts, agreements, and legal documents; advising project and management teams on legal risks, rights, and obligations; and ensuring compliance with applicable real estate, land, regulatory, and corporate laws. The role involves coordinating with external legal counsel, government authorities, and internal stakeholders to support land acquisition, approvals, registrations, and dispute resolution. The Senior Manager will also establish and maintain legal policies, documentation standards, and risk mitigation frameworks while supporting due diligence for new projects and strategic initiatives.
SIBPL is looking for an experienced Legal Head to lead its legal function and provide strategic legal support across real estate, construction, corporate governance, contracts, compliance, and litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy in line with business objectives.
- Provide legal advice to senior management and internal departments.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, MOUs, and legal documentation.
- Ensure compliance with property laws, corporate laws, labour laws, environmental regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Manage litigation, arbitration, disputes, legal notices, and external legal counsel.
- Support real estate transactions including land acquisition, leases, joint ventures, due diligence, title verification, and development documentation.
- Advise on corporate governance, board resolutions, statutory filings, and maintenance of corporate records.
- Identify legal risks and implement effective risk-mitigation strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the legal team.
Qualifications & Experience
- LLB is mandatory; LLM or relevant certification will be preferred.
- 10–15 years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure, or property development is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of property law, contract law, corporate law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong foundation in Law with in-depth knowledge of real estate, property, and contract law, preferably supported by an LL.B or equivalent professional degree.
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, reviewing, and vetting agreements, deeds, MOUs, and other property-related documentation.
- Experience in Legal Consulting, providing strategic legal advice to management and project teams on transactions, risk, and regulatory implications.
- Demonstrated expertise in Legal Compliance, ensuring adherence to local, state, and national laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Hands-on experience in managing Legal Affairs such as litigation coordination, dispute resolution, land due diligence, and interactions with external counsel and authorities.
- Relevant experience (typically 10–20 years) in real estate, infrastructure, or related sectors, with a focus on large-scale projects.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and handle multiple matters simultaneously.
