About Thinkthrough Consulting
Thinkthrough Consulting (TTC) is a purpose-led, multidisciplinary professional services firm specialising in advisory support for sustainable development. TTC engages clients across sectors to address critical development challenges – bringing together the best available expertise and solutions to drive efficiency and impact.
TTC emphasises a tri-sector approach, facilitating synergy between government, corporate, and civil society for holistic sustainable development. Our solutions are aligned with the SDGs (the ‘Global Goals’) and are custom-made for the specific needs of clients from diverse sectors.
TTC operates as a commercial consulting firm. Engagements are fee-based and professionally structured; the finance function is expected to reflect the discipline and rigour of a high-performing professional services organisation.
Role Overview
The Senior Manager – Finance & Operations will anchor TTC’s financial function end-to-end: from accounting and compliance to strategic planning, MIS, and team leadership. The role also carries secondary oversight of administrative and operational infrastructure, ensuring that TTC’s internal environment supports efficient, high-quality delivery.
This is a business finance leadership role in a commercial consulting firm. The successful candidate will bring the rigour of a professional services environment – project P&L management, revenue recognition, utilisation tracking, and margin discipline – while navigating the specific compliance and reporting demands that come with institutional and government clients.
The position reports to the COO on a day-to-day basis, with periodic reporting to the Board of Directors on financial performance, risk, and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Business Finance
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and rolling financial planning across TTC’s project portfolio and operations
• Deliver project-level profitability analysis – tracking revenue, margins, utilisation, and cost ratios by engagement and client
• Provide timely, decision-grade financial insights to the COO and Board; flag risks and recommend corrective action early
• Support proposal budgeting and commercial structuring in partnership with engagement teams, including multi-partner and consortium arrangements
2. Financial Operations & Reporting
• Oversee end-to-end accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting – ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual closure on schedule
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and fund utilisation; maintain a clear view of receivables and disbursements at all times
• Build and maintain MIS dashboards and financial summaries for leadership and Board review; drive automation and system improvements
• Strengthen internal controls, standardise financial processes, and maintain documentation to withstand statutory and client audit
3. Compliance & Governance
• Ensure full compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements – GST, TDS, Income Tax, ROC filings, and project-specific financial reporting obligations
• Liaise with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities; manage audit cycles end-to-end
• Maintain high standards of corporate governance and financial risk management; keep licences, registrations, and insurance current
• Manage compliance requirements tied to donor or government-funded projects, including utilisation certificates and financial statements in prescribed formats
• Prepare periodic compliance and risk reports for the Board of Directors
4. Administration & Operational Infrastructure
(Secondary scope – Finance takes precedence)
• Oversee office administration, facilities, vendor relationships, and procurement for operational and administrative services
• Manage asset tracking, travel logistics, and event-related administrative requirements
• Monitor administrative budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness across support functions
5. Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team (currently 2–3 members); build capability in compliance, systems, and business finance
• Set clear standards for accuracy, timeliness, and accountability; foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
• Serve as the primary finance interface for engagement leads, helping non-finance staff interpret and act on financial information
Education & Experience
• CA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent professional qualification
• 12–15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a finance leadership role
• Prior experience in consulting, professional services, or knowledge-based organisations strongly preferred; familiarity with institutional or government client billing and reporting norms is an advantage
• Demonstrated experience managing statutory compliance, audit processes, and multi-project financial reporting
Skills & Competencies
• Strong financial planning, analysis, and management reporting capabilities
• Deep working knowledge of Indian taxation (GST, TDS, Income Tax) and regulatory compliance
• Business acumen and ability to engage as a credible partner with non-finance stakeholders – practice leads, senior leadership, and institutional clients
• Proficiency in accounting/ERP systems and advanced Excel; comfort with financial dashboards and reporting tools
• High attention to detail; able to operate at both the strategic and transactional level without losing sight of either
• Clear, confident communicator – written and verbal
What We’re Looking For
• Ownership mindset – you treat TTC’s financial health as your personal responsibility
• Comfort with ambiguity and a dynamic, project-driven environment; ability to prioritise across competing demands
• High integrity; discreet and professional in handling sensitive financial and organisational information
• Strategic thinker who executes – able to zoom out to the big picture and zoom in to get the work done
Comfort working in a commercial consulting environment that serves development sector clients; the finance function must reflect commercial discipline
