Why Join Us?

Role Summary
Nayanta University is seeking an experienced, leadership-oriented Senior Manager – Finance and Accounts to oversee financial operations, statutory compliance, audit management, and team leadership. The incumbent will take accounts to finalisation, manage MIS reporting for the CFO and Board, lead the finance team, and ensure robust compliance across taxation, GST, and charitable-organisation requirements. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CFO, with the incumbent expected to deputise for the CFO on financial matters as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts Finalisation & Fund Accounting
- Own the complete accounting cycle up to finalisation — trial balance, adjustments, provisions, and financial statements.
- Prepare annual financial statements (Receipts & Payments, Income & Expenditure, Balance Sheet) per applicable standards for educational trusts and charitable organisations.
- Maintain fund accounting, corpus/endowment tracking, and compliance with Income Tax Act provisions (Sections 10, 11, 12A/12AB) applicable to charitable institutions.
- Maintain records for grants, donations, and donor-restricted funds, ensuring accurate utilisation tracking.
2. MIS & Board Reporting
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual MIS reports to the CFO covering income, expenditure, fund utilisation, and key indicators.
- Compile Board-level financial reports, including budget vs. actuals and strategic financial updates.
- Design dashboards and reporting templates for senior management and Board consumption, with analytical commentary on financial trends.
3. Monthly Closing & Financial Controls
- Lead the end-to-end monthly closing process, ensuring entries, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations are completed on schedule.
- Review and approve journal entries, bank/ledger reconciliations, and internal fund adjustments.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies during closing and implement corrective controls; maintain a monthly closing calendar.
4. Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, manage, and mentor a finance team of 4–6 members, including Assistant Managers, Executives, and support staff.
- Allocate responsibilities, set performance goals, and conduct regular reviews to support productivity and development.
- Train the team on Tally, ERP usage, compliance procedures, and audit readiness; act as escalation point for complex queries.
5. Statutory, GST & Tax Compliance
- Lead the statutory audit process end-to-end — planning, documentation, auditor liaison, and closure — and prepare supporting audit papers and schedules.
- Lead the GST audit process, including reconciliation statements and GSTR-9C workings.
- Oversee TDS compliance (deduction, deposit, quarterly returns, certificates) and income tax compliance, including 12A/80G submissions.
- Ensure timely filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, 3B, 9/9C), ITC reconciliation with GSTR-2B, and GST registrations/correspondence.
6. Capitalisation, CSR, Policy & ERP
- Apply sound judgement on capital vs. revenue expenditure; maintain the Fixed Asset Register, CWIP, and depreciation schedules.
- Manage accounting and reporting for CSR grants and donations, including utilisation certificates and donor documentation.
- Support the CFO in drafting and implementing financial policies, SOPs, and internal control frameworks, including delegation of authority matrices.
- Serve as functional owner of the University’s ERP/Tally systems, ensuring data integrity, access controls, and audit trails; drive automation to improve reporting accuracy.
The stated responsibilities are not exhaustive; employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree (M.Com, MBA Finance) required. CA Inter/ICWA strongly preferred; full CA/CMA will be viewed very favourably.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated team leadership, including 5–6 years in a university, educational institution, charitable trust, or non-profit, with exposure to fund accounting and finalisation.
- Proven track record independently managing statutory audits, GST audits, TDS compliance, and monthly closing cycles, plus Board/CFO-level MIS reporting.
- Hands-on experience managing a team of 4–6 finance professionals; experience on Oracle Financials, SAP FICO/S4 HANA, or similar ERP is a strong advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian accounting standards (Ind AS/AS) for educational trusts and charitable organisations; advanced Tally ERP 9/Tally Prime proficiency.
- Strong command of GST, TDS, and income tax regulations applicable to non-profit educational institutions; familiarity with GSTN, TRACES, Income Tax e-filing, and MCA portals.
Personal Attributes
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage, inspire, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy across financial records, reports, and compliance filings.
- Proactive and self-driven, capable of managing multiple compliance and reporting cycles without close supervision.
- Excellent communication skills — able to present complex financial information clearly to the CFO, Board, and non-finance stakeholders.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity; composed under pressure during audit and closing periods.
