Role Description The Senior Manager – Estimation is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for leading the estimation function for construction and real estate projects. This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and budgets, analyzing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with design, engineering, procurement, and project teams to ensure accurate and timely submissions. The individual will review vendor and subcontractor quotations, validate rates against market benchmarks, and support bid preparation and tender negotiations. Daily activities include monitoring cost variances, updating estimation databases, advising on value engineering opportunities, and generating reports for senior leadership. The Senior Manager will also mentor estimation team members, establish best practices, and help drive continuous improvement in the organization’s costing and tendering processes.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in construction cost estimation, quantity surveying, and preparation of BOQs for residential and commercial projects.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications, and translate them into accurate cost breakdowns.
- Proficiency with estimation and project management software (e.g., Excel, ERP tools, specialized costing applications).
- Solid understanding of local building codes, materials, labor rates, and market pricing in the Mumbai and broader regional context.
- Experience participating in tenders, bid preparation, and negotiations with vendors and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy under tight timelines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and present estimates to leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising estimation teams, including mentoring and developing team capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Several years of progressive experience in estimation or quantity surveying, preferably in the real estate or construction sector.
