Job Title: Senior Manager – Electrical (Solar EPC)
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Engineering Leadership
- Lead electrical engineering functions across multiple solar EPC projects.
- Define electrical design standards, execution methodologies, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Design & Engineering Management
- Review and approve electrical designs including:
- DC systems (modules, string sizing, combiner boxes)
- AC systems (inverters, transformers, switchgear)
- HT/LT systems and evacuation infrastructure
- Substations, pooling stations, and transmission lines
- Earthing, lightning protection, and SCADA systems
- Ensure compliance with grid codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Project Execution Oversight
- Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical systems at site.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and milestones.
- Coordinate site activities including cable laying, termination, testing, and energization.
- Vendor & Contractor Management
- Evaluate and finalize electrical vendors and subcontractors.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure quality compliance.
- Approve technical submittals, drawings, and material specifications.
- Testing & Commissioning
- Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all testing (IR, continuity, relay testing, etc.) is completed as per standards.
- Coordinate with utilities and authorities for grid synchronization.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards and inspection plans.
- Adhere to statutory regulations, electrical safety norms, and industry standards.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Cost Control & Budgeting
- Prepare and manage electrical BOQs and budgets.
- Monitor costs and identify optimization opportunities.
- Review and approve variations and change orders.
- Planning & Scheduling
- Develop electrical work schedules aligned with overall project plans.
- Track progress using tools like Primavera / MS Project.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, DISCOMs, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure timely approvals, inspections, and clearances.
- Participate in project review meetings.
- HSE Compliance
- Ensure all electrical works comply with safety standards.
- Promote safe working practices, especially during testing and energization.
- Coordinate with HSE teams to minimize risks.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor electrical engineers and site teams.
- Allocate resources effectively across projects.
- Drive performance management and capability development.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and KPIs.
- Maintain detailed documentation for design, execution, and commissioning.
- Support project handover with complete electrical documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
- Experience: 15–20 years in electrical engineering, with strong experience in solar EPC / power / infrastructure projects
- Experience in utility-scale solar projects and substations preferred
