Job Title: Senior Manager - Insurance
Position Summary:
This role will oversee all insurance-related matters for Tata Projects. It involves risk assessment, insurance procurement, claims management, compliance, and strategic financial support. The incumbent will collaborate with project teams, insurance brokers, underwriters, and legal counsel to mitigate risks and safeguard organizational interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Policy placement and monitoring of insurance cycle:
- Assess and quantify risks across TPL projects, JVs, and subsidiaries.
- Design and place insurance policies across property, CAR/EAR, Marine, PI, CGL, D&O , cyber and other lines of business in collaboration with brokers or independently, ensuring compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to gather necessary information for policy placement and updates.
- Negotiate competitive insurance terms, coverage and pricing with Insurer, brokers aligned with business needs.
- Ensure continuous and adequate coverage without lapses .
- Manage documentation, endorsements, renewals, and safe custody of policies.
- Coordinate with HR for employee-related insurance renewals.
- Manage relationships with insurers, brokers, TPAs, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and service excellence.
- Undertake training sessions for internal business teams to create awareness about insurance and risk mitigations
Claims management:
- Ensure prompt reporting of claims to insurers/brokers.
- Liaise with surveyors, attend site surveys, and coordinate documentation.
- Draft claim bills, analyze coverage, and negotiate settlements.
- Drive timely claim resolution, minimize losses, and ensure recovery under policy terms.
MIS Reporting and Compliance
- Maintain and present claims MIS to stakeholders periodically.
- Update insurance portals with claim details.
- Manage audits and ensure proper documentation of claims
- Monitoring the booking of insurance premiums and claims accounting which needs to be undertaken by the respective project/ Finance CoE teams
Tender /Contract
- Review contracts, tenders, and proposals to advise on insurance coverage, indemnities, and risk mitigation to business team.
Skills & Experience
Experience: 8-10 years’ experience
General:
- Well versed with MS office and PowerPoint presentations
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies for large-scale EPC projects
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate risks, coverage adequacy, and claim recoveries.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of SAP desirable
Education: MBA / Diploma (Insurance Management /AIII /Licentiate (Insurance Institute of India/ DIRM-ICAI
