Role Overview:
Support the Assistant General Manager and Business Head in planning, sourcing, and managing the category to meet customer demand and expectations. Contribute to range development, supplier management, and inventory performance while ensuring data accuracy and promotional readiness across store and online channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in buying, range planning, and category management based on customer demand, market trends, and commercial objectives.
- Support product sourcing, including identifying suitable products, coordinating statutory approvals and negotiating service & support arrangements.
- Set and maintain store models and visual layouts to reflect current range and promotional activity.
- Identify opportunities to grow incremental sales from existing products through better placement, promotions, and range optimization.
- Conduct regular range reviews to assess performance, gaps, and opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity to identify threats, opportunities, and pricing trends.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the category’s strategic and business plans.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure a smooth flow of stock at competitive prices, while maximizing rebates, advertising support, and promotional benefits.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, source new suppliers, and consolidate existing ones.
- Manage stock levels to achieve high service levels for stores and online channel, while maintaining inventory and GPROSI (GP return on sale of inventory) performance better than budget.
- Identify obsolete and non‑moving inventory and work with the Assistant General Manager to develop and execute exit or clearance plans.
- Provide input into advertising line‑ups and attend advertising briefing sessions with the Buyer.
- Ensure adequate stock availability to support promotional and peak‑period demand.
- Communicate changes in product specifications, pricing, or availability to relevant internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Regularly review stock levels to ensure they remain appropriate and aligned with sales forecasts.
- Maintain data integrity and keep product information accurate and up to date in the system.
- Coordinate stock returns to suppliers and manage the registration and ongoing tracking of stock samples.
- Communicate product information, usage instructions, and key selling points to stores and internal teams.
- Support and contribute to the overall success of the Buying and Category team through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
