Role Description
Beta Trading Company (transitioning to Beta Insurance Company) is seeking a seasoned, high-calibre insurance professional to serve as Senior Manager of our Business Insurance Division. This is not a conventional managerial role — you will be the owner's right hand and the engine of the entire division, simultaneously driving revenue growth and managing all internal operations with full autonomy.
This is a dual-mandate leadership position: you bring in business and you run the business. You will own the P&L of the commercial lines vertical, lead business development across B2B and SME clients, manage insurer relationships, and ensure end-to-end operational excellence — from policy issuance to claims resolution.
Key Responsibility
. Revenue Generation & Business Development
• Own and drive the Business Insurance vertical's revenue targets — acquire new corporate, B2B, and SME clients across all commercial lines.
• Leverage an established network of CFOs, procurement heads, business owners, risk managers, and CXOs to generate a consistent deal pipeline.
• Identify, pitch, and close insurance mandates independently — from risk assessment to proposal to policy binding.
• Build and maintain long-term client relationships with a focus on retention, cross-selling, and upselling of insurance products.
• Represent Beta at industry forums, networking events, and insurer meets to position the company as a credible B2B insurance partner.
B. Internal Operations & Division Management
• Build, lead, and mentor the Business Insurance team — including relationship managers, operations executives, and support staff.
• Establish, document, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the entire commercial lines workflow: client onboarding, risk assessment, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and claims.
• Set up and manage the division's CRM/operations pipeline, ensuring zero-leak renewal tracking and timely servicing.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the division, ensuring turnaround timelines, quality standards, and compliance norms are met consistently.
• Prepare and present regular MIS reports, revenue dashboards, and performance metrics to senior management.
C. Underwriting & Product Expertise
• Liaise directly with underwriters across insurers to negotiate favourable rates, special quotations, and enhanced coverage structures for clients.
• Provide techno-commercial guidance to clients on optimal risk architecture — balancing coverage adequacy with cost efficiency.
• Keep abreast of market-wide changes in underwriting guidelines, product launches, and regulatory updates across Fire, Marine, Liability, Engineering, Health (Group), and other commercial lines.
• Conduct pre-renewal risk reviews and coverage gap analyses for existing clients.
D. Claims Management
• Oversee end-to-end claims handling for all commercial clients — from intimation and documentation to settlement and post-claim review.
• Intervene in complex, large, or disputed claims to drive timely and fair resolution in the client's favour.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with surveyors, loss assessors, and claims teams at insurer companies.
• Implement a proactive post-claim analysis process to advise clients on risk mitigation and policy restructuring.
E. Insurer & Stakeholder Relationships
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with key General Insurance companies and their commercial lines teams.
• Negotiate commission structures, co-payment arrangements, and service-level agreements with insurers.
• Coordinate with IRDAI compliance obligations relevant to the corporate agency's scope of operations.

Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications
• Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in commercial/business insurance in India.
• Deep expertise in at least four of the following: Fire & Allied Perils, Marine Cargo & Hull, Commercial General Liability, Contractors All Risk / EAR, Product Liability, D&O, Professional Indemnity, Group Health / GMC.
• Prior experience at an insurance broker, corporate agency, or general insurance company in a client-facing or division-head role.
• Proven track record of independently building and growing a commercial insurance portfolio.
• IRDAI licensing or qualification (SP/Broker/PoSP) is a strong advantage; willingness to obtain is mandatory.
Technical Knowledge
• Expert-level understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and policy wordings across commercial lines.
• Strong claims management background — ability to handle large and complex commercial claims end-to-end.
• Familiarity with reinsurance arrangements, co-insurance, and facultative placements is desirable.
• Working knowledge of SME and B2B insurance procurement processes, risk surveys, and compliance requirements.
