Role Summary
- The Senior Manager – Purchase & Supply Chain will be strategically and
operationally responsible for the end-to-end procurement of raw materials, capital
equipment, consumables, and packaging materials. The ideal candidate will possess
deep domain expertise in the polymer industry, outstanding negotiation skills, and a
proven track record of driving cost optimization while maintaining uninterrupted
supply chain continuity and strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement & Cost Management
- Sourcing Strategy: Oversee the procurement of Raw Materials (Polymers/Chemicals),
Consumables, Spares, and Packaging materials.
- Commercial Negotiations: Lead high-value negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive
pricing, favorable payment terms, and robust service level agreements (SLAs).
- Cost Optimization: Proactively drive cost-reduction initiatives to achieve greater control over
procurement spending without compromising on quality or production timelines.
- Capital Expenditure (CapEx): Partner with the Maintenance and Engineering departments to
evaluate, negotiate, and purchase Capital Equipment.
- Vendor Management & Compliance
- Supplier Onboarding: Identify, evaluate, and introduce new reliable suppliers and
contractors to foster competition and reduce costs.
- Supplier Relations: Collaborate with existing suppliers to drive continuous improvement in
their product quality, delivery efficiency, and service standards.
- Database Maintenance: Update and maintain the Approved Supplier List on a monthly basis.
- Financial Coordination: Ensure seamless verification and processing of supplier invoices and
coordinate timely payments with the Accounts department.
- Supply Chain Risk & Operations
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential supply chain vulnerabilities (e.g., polymer price volatility,
supplier insolvency, logistics bottlenecks) and develop robust mitigation strategies.
- PO Management: Formulate Purchase Orders (POs), secure management approvals, and
maintain/review pending PO data meticulously.
- Data Integrity & SOPs: Prepare, update, and manage all procurement data, inventory
records, and MIS reports within the company system strictly adhering to established
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Education
- Degree: Any Graduate or an MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a
relevant field.
Experience & Skills
- Experience: 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply
chain roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership/managerial capacity.
- Industry Background: Mandatory experience in the Polymer, Plastics, or Chemical
manufacturing industry or automotive.
- Core Competencies: * Deep understanding of polymer raw materials and global/domestic
market trends.
- Exceptional negotiation, interpersonal, and contract-management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel for data-driven
decision-making.
- Proven ability to work closely with executive leadership (MD level).
