Job Summary:
The Senior Manager Legal will report directly to the Head Legal and assume a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the organization's legal affairs. With meticulous attention to contractual drafting and effective management of litigation and arbitrations, the Senior Manager Legal will contribute to the organization's legal strategy and ensure the protection of its interests in diverse business transactions and legal disputes. The role supports effective decision-making by mitigating legal risks and strengthening corporate governance practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor day to day legal affairs of the organization and keep a track of ongoing legal cases involving Tahal Group companies.
- Draft and review various legal, commercial and contractual documents such as agreements, bank guarantees, legal notices & responses, correspondence with clients/ vendors and legal applications/ claim petitions/ replies/ rejoinder/ replications etc., ensuring legal accuracy and compliance.
- Closely review ongoing legal case files to identify relevant points that favour the company; compile documents for case preparation/ submission and maintain comprehensive legal case records.
- Liaise with external legal counsels, regulatory / other authorities, and other relevant stakeholders as needed and representing the company in legal proceedings when necessary.
- Prepare periodical Management Information System (MIS) reports summarizing the status of legal cases for senior management review.
- Undertake official travel for attending court hearings, meetings with external counsels, regulatory authorities, or other legal proceedings, as required.
- Provide legal support to the Company’s business functions/depts as needed
- Conduct regular legal research relating to the business of Tahal Group.
- Support in developing and implementing strategies for managing legal disputes efficiently and effectively.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically update standard templates and legal documentation to ensure consistency and legal adequacy across business operations.
- Ensure all legal documents are accurate, enforceable, and aligned with company policy and regulatory framework.
- Assist in ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance, including under Companies Act, labour laws, and other applicable legislations.
- Advise senior management on strategic, operational, and compliance-related decisions from a legal perspective.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Ø Qualification: LLB (Hons) or equivalent law degree from a recognized university.
Ø Experience: 12-15 years of experience in a legal role, specializing in contract drafting, litigation management and allied legal matters.
Required Key Skills:
- Understanding of contractual matters relevant to EPC companies.
- Proven track record in handling complex legal cases, drafting legal documents, and analysing legal issues, including legal research and document review.
- Experience of attending court hearings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and MS Office.
