Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic projects, research, and dissertations.
- Design, develop, and enhance curricula, assessment methods, and teaching innovations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student retention, progression, and attainment.
- Advance knowledge in teaching and learning through publications, presentations, and other scholarly activities.
- Contribute to the administration of key Faculty, School, and College activities related to education.
Education and Student Experience
- Develop and launch new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Implement teaching innovations that improve progression, retention, and attainment.
- Evaluate student satisfaction and performance, and design interventions for improvement.
- Lead and contribute to leadership roles in education, including chairing exam boards.
- Promote inclusive teaching practices and engage with initiatives to support diverse learners and widening access.
- Lead bids for funding to support teaching, learning, and student experience initiatives.
Leadership and Management
- Chair and participate in Faculty and School committees.
- Contribute to strategic projects and outreach initiatives aligned with the College mission.
- Undertake senior-level leadership and administrative duties within the Faculty and School, e.g., as Assistant Dean or equivalent.
- Provide professional leadership in teaching delivery and academic administration.
Engagement and Collaboration
- Participate in external networks, including student recruitment, external examining, and work with exam boards.
- Develop partnerships with other higher education institutions, industry, and government bodies to enhance student education.
- Engage with professional or scholarly organisations, journals, or other external activities.
People Management and Teamwork
- Lead internal and external networks, chairing committees and collaborating with external examiners and assessors.
- Provide academic leadership within programme areas, coordinating teaching teams and ensuring effective course delivery.
- Act as a line manager, supervising colleagues and contributing to team and individual development.
- Mentor peers and colleagues, resolving conflicts and fostering effective team collaboration.
- Student and Staff Support
- Act as a personal tutor, providing first-line academic and pastoral support to students.
- Support colleagues with guidance, referring them to further assistance as required.
- Ensure adherence to the College’s Equal Opportunities policy and actively promote equality and inclusivity in all activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven record of excellence in teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Experience in supervising student research and academic projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in academic administration, programme management, or committee work.
- Track record of advancing knowledge in the field through scholarship, research, or pedagogic innovation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and external partners.
