Job details:
Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned ServiceNow Automation Architect to take technical ownership of our most complex and high-impact platform initiatives. This is a senior leadership role built for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep platform expertise and enterprise-scale thinking — someone who can translate ambitious business requirements into elegant, maintainable automation solutions.
You will serve as the primary architect for end-to-end automation across the platform, with a particular focus on sophisticated third-party integrations, multi-system orchestration, and the transition toward Agentic AI capabilities within the ServiceNow framework. If you are driven by solving problems that most teams haven’t encountered yet, this role is designed for you.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural Leadership
Own the technical roadmap for platform automation. You will lead the transition of legacy workflows into modern, maintainable solutions — leveraging Flow Designer and IntegrationHub to build hybrid low-code/pro-code architectures that scale with the organisation.
Enterprise Integration
Design, govern, and continuously improve complex bidirectional integrations between ServiceNow and the broader enterprise ecosystem. Whether connecting to Azure DevOps, Jira, monitoring platforms, or ERP systems, you will establish the standards and patterns that the wider team follows — working across REST, SOAP, JSON, and custom Spokes.
Automation Frameworks
Lead the adoption and ongoing maturity of the Automated Test Framework (ATF) to provide confidence in every deployment. You will ensure that CI/CD pipelines are stable, repeatable, and resilient as the platform evolves.
Advanced Experience Design
Take ownership of the end-user experience by overseeing the development of custom components and advanced Workspace and UI Builder configurations. The goal is a coherent, intuitive “single pane of glass” that gives users everything they need without leaving the platform.
Mentorship & Governance
Set the bar for code quality across the team. You will define coding standards, lead rigorous code reviews, and actively mentor mid-level developers on Glide API best practices, ServiceNow data modelling, and architectural decision-making.
Innovation & AI Readiness
Stay ahead of the platform’s evolving capabilities and evaluate emerging features with a pragmatic eye. You will take a leading role in assessing and implementing AI Search, Now Intelligence, and Agentic AI capabilities to drive the next generation of hyper-automation within the organisation.
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 6+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, including at least 2 years operating in a Lead or Architect capacity.
- Integration Mastery: Deep, proven expertise in IntegrationHub, custom API development, and the full lifecycle of third-party interface management — including authentication protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and Mutual Auth.
- Advanced Scripting: Expert-level command of JavaScript (ES6+), GlideSystem, GlideRecord, and asynchronous processing patterns within the ServiceNow runtime.
- Process Automation: Extensive hands-on experience with Flow Designer, Subflows, and Action Designer for building robust, multi-system orchestration workflows.
- UI/UX Strategy: Demonstrated ability to design and deliver complex, performant user interfaces using UI Builder and Service Portal custom widgets — balancing technical rigour with genuine usability.
- Platform Health: Solid understanding of CMDB and the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), ensuring that automation initiatives are built on sound, industry-aligned data structures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more modules — ITSM, ITOM, or HRSD are particularly relevant to this role.
- Developer Credentials: ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) is strongly preferred at this level, as it demonstrates both breadth and depth across the platform.
- DevOps Alignment: Practical experience with GitHub or GitLab integration for ServiceNow Source Control, supporting a modern, version-controlled development workflow.
- AI / ML: Familiarity with ServiceNow Predictive Intelligence or Virtual Agent configurations, with an appetite to expand these capabilities as the platform matures.
