Senior Backend Engineer (Java & ATG Commerce)

About the Role
Are you a backend expert who thrives at the intersection of enterprise commerce and modern distributed systems? We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our engineering team.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between robust Oracle Commerce (ATG) legacy power and the agility of Microservices. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing high-traffic backend services that power seamless shopping experiences for millions of users. Key Responsibilities
- Develop & Scale: Build and maintain high-performance backend services using Java and Oracle Commerce (ATG).
- Modernize Architecture: Design and implement resilient Microservices to evolve our enterprise commerce ecosystem.
- API Excellence: Develop robust RESTful services and complex backend workflows that integrate seamlessly with frontend and third-party systems.
- Collaborate: Partner with Architects, Product Owners, and DevOps to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Quality & Mentorship: Drive code reviews, enforce best practices, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot and optimize distributed systems to ensure stability during peak traffic periods.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 6+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Core Tech: Expert-level proficiency in Java/J2EE.
- Commerce Domain: Hands-on experience with ATG/Oracle Commerce modules (BCC, CSC, DPS, DSC, Pricing, Checkout, etc.).
- Microservices: Proven track record building and deploying services using Spring Boot.
- Integration: Deep understanding of REST APIs, JSON/XML, and middleware components.
- Systems Design: Strong grasp of distributed systems, caching strategies, and event-driven patterns.
- Tooling: Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka/JMS or caching layers like Redis/Coherence.
- Exposure to Docker and containerized deployments.
- A history of optimizing high-traffic eCommerce environments.
