Job Description – Senior / Lead AI Research Engineer (Controls – Robotics / Embodied AI)
Location: Bangalore
Experience: 3–6 years (Senior) | 6–9 years (Lead)
Role Overview
The Senior / Lead AI Research Engineer – Controls will focus on developing advanced control algorithms for intelligent robotic systems using Reinforcement Learning (RL), Imitation Learning (IL), and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models. The role combines research and applied engineering to build scalable, high-performance control systems for real-world robotics applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement advanced control algorithms using RL, IL, and VLA methodologies.
• Conduct research in motion planning, robotic manipulation, and autonomous decision-making.
• Prototype and validate control algorithms in simulation and real-world environments.
• Work with tools such as ROS, NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim, Gymnasium, and other simulation platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven control systems into robotics products.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership.
• Publish research papers, contribute to patents, and drive innovation.
• Stay updated with advancements in robotics, AI, and control systems.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in robotics research with focus on control systems (or 6–9 years for Lead role).
• Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
• Hands-on experience with RL, IL, or similar control methodologies.
• Experience working in Linux/Ubuntu environments with shell scripting.
• Experience with Docker, containerization, and cloud-based model deployment.
• Track record of implementing and deploying algorithms in real-world robotic systems.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS).
• Experience with simulation platforms such as NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or Gazebo.
• Familiarity with reinforcement learning toolkits such as Gymnasium.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of multi-agent systems, sensor fusion, computer vision, or NLP in robotics.
• Experience leading research initiatives or engineering teams.
Soft Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Passion for innovation in robotics and AI.
