About the role
We are looking for a Senior Laravel Developer to lead the development and maintenance of scalable web applications built on Laravel. You will work closely with product, design, DevOps, and business teams to build robust backend systems, APIs, admin panels, and customer-facing platforms.
This role is suited to someone who can work independently, write clean and maintainable code, solve problems quickly, and take ownership of projects from planning through to deployment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications using PHP and Laravel
- Build scalable backend systems, REST APIs, and integrations with third-party services
- Develop and maintain admin panels, dashboards, and internal tools
- Optimise application performance, database queries, and server-side logic
- Write clean, secure, well-structured, and reusable code
- Review code written by other developers and maintain coding standards
- Troubleshoot bugs, production issues, and system bottlenecks
- Work with frontend developers to integrate APIs and improve user experience
- Manage database design, migrations, indexing, and query optimisation
- Collaborate with DevOps for deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and server maintenance
- Take technical ownership of features and help plan architecture decisions
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers where needed
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years of experience in PHP development
- 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with Laravel
- Strong understanding of MVC architecture and object-oriented programming
- Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating third-party APIs
- Strong knowledge of MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Experience with queue systems, jobs, cron, caching, and background processing
- Good understanding of authentication, authorisation, and application security
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimisation skills
- Familiarity with Linux server environments and deployment processes
- Ability to work independently and take end-to-end ownership
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Laravel Horizon, Redis, and queues
- Experience with payment gateway integrations
- Experience working on e-commerce, healthcare, SaaS, or high-traffic applications
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure such as AWS or DigitalOcean
- Experience with unit testing and feature testing in Laravel
- Basic understanding of frontend technologies such as Blade, Livewire, Vue.js, or React
