Title: Senior Java Developer
Location: Bangalore- hybrid
Experience: 7+ Years
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, recode, and upgrade existing Java 8 EJB and JSF components to ensure full compatibility with WAS 9.0.5.25 and RHEL 8.6+ platform standards.
- Leverage Kiro (AI-assisted IDE) to accelerate application recoding, code generation, and unit test development — delivering modernized solutions efficiently and to bank-defined quality standards.
- Perform detailed code analysis and impact assessment — identifying compatibility issues, deprecated APIs, and configuration changes required for WAS 9.x migration.
- Develop and execute comprehensive unit tests for all migrated and recoded components — ensuring functional parity, regression confidence, and code quality across the modernized platform.
- Configure and validate Java runtime environments — Java 8 SR6+ and Adopt OpenJDK 8u292+ — ensuring correct JVM configuration, performance tuning, and compatibility with WAS 9.x.
- Work closely with platform, infrastructure, and DevOps teams — ensuring migrated applications are correctly deployed, configured, and validated across Dev, Test, UAT, and Production environments on RHEL 8.6+.
- Collaborate with architects and senior stakeholders — providing migration progress updates, risk assessments, and technical recommendations throughout the upgrade programme.
- Produce clear technical documentation — migration runbooks, code change logs, compatibility matrices, and deployment guides aligned to bank standards.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline integration — ensuring migrated components are built, tested, and deployed through automated pipelines consistently across all environments.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of hands-on Java development experience with proven expertise in Java 8 — EJB, JSF, and enterprise Java component development in production environments.
- Strong WebSphere Application Server (WAS) experience — WAS 9.x configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and migration from earlier WAS versions.
- Proven application migration and modernization experience — upgrading legacy Java applications to modern platform standards in regulated financial services environments.
- Experience with RHEL / Linux environments — application deployment, configuration management, and troubleshooting on RHEL 8.6+.
- Hands-on experience with Kiro or equivalent AI-assisted development tools — leveraging AI coding assistants for accelerated development, recoding, and unit test generation- Prefered
- Strong unit testing skills — JUnit, Mockito — with a disciplined approach to test coverage and regression validation across migrated components.
- Proficiency with build tools — Maven / Gradle — and CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment of Java enterprise applications.
- Strong analytical skills — able to assess legacy codebases, identify migration risks, and implement pragmatic, bank-standard compliant solutions.
- Excellent communication skills — able to engage architects, platform teams, and senior stakeholders with clear migration status updates and technical recommendations.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Adopt OpenJDK / Eclipse Temurin JVM configuration and tuning.
- Familiarity with containerization — Docker / Kubernetes — for modernized Java application deployment alongside WAS.
- Exposure to Spring Boot migration alongside WAS modernization.
- Knowledge of financial services, bank technology standards and delivery governance.
- Experience with static code analysis tools — SonarQube, Checkstyle — for code quality enforcement during migration.
- AWS Kiro certification or formal AI-assisted development tool training.
