Senior Interior Designer — Kalypso Designs
Location: South Delhi | Full-time, on-site with regular site travel across Delhi NCR
About the role
Kalypso Designs is an interior design, build and bespoke furniture practice. We are looking for a Senior Interior Designer who can own a project end-to-end, from client conversation to the last snag on site. This is not a purely studio role. You will be expected to hold your ground with a contractor at 8 am on site and present a scheme to a client at 4 pm the same day.
Key responsibilities
Client management
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned residential projects
- Run client presentations, design reviews and selection meetings independently
- Translate client briefs into design intent, and manage expectations on cost, timeline and feasibility
- Handle change requests and communicate cost/schedule implications clearly
Team leadership
- Lead a team of junior designers and draftsmen; allocate work, review output and maintain drawing standards
- Check GFC sets before release, no drawing leaves the studio unchecked
- Mentor juniors on detailing, material knowledge and site practice
Drawings and documentation
- Produce and supervise 2D drawing sets in AutoCAD: layouts, ceiling and electrical plans, plumbing points, elevations, sections, joinery and hardware details
- Prepare BOQs and specification sheets; coordinate with the costing team on rates and quantities
- Maintain drawing registers and revision control
Site execution
- Conduct regular site visits; explain drawings to contractors, carpenters, electricians and labour in Hindi and English
- Resolve site queries and dimensional conflicts on the spot
- Monitor quality of finishes, check work against approved drawings, and drive snagging and handover
Vendor and consultant coordination
- Coordinate with MEP consultants, structural consultants, and specialist vendors
- Manage bespoke furniture fabrication, from shop drawings to prototype approval to installation
- Source materials, negotiate with suppliers, and track sample approvals and delivery schedules
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Interior Design / Architecture
- 4–6 years of experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior capacity on residential projects
- Strong command of AutoCAD; working proficiency in SketchUp and Adobe Suite. Revit is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to produce complete GFC and joinery detail sets independently
- Sound knowledge of materials, finishes, veneers, hardware, modular systems and Indian construction practice
- Fluent in Hindi and English — site communication is non-negotiable
- Comfortable with BOQ preparation and basic quantity estimation
What we look for
Ownership. We want someone who catches the mistake in the ceiling drawing before it becomes a false-ceiling that has to be pulled down. Someone whose clients ask for them by name on the next project.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience. Indicative band: ₹6–8 LPA depending on portfolio and years. Performance-linked project incentive applicable.
