ROLE SUMMARY
Senior HVAC Engineer: Leads HVAC engineering activities, ensuring technically compliant, safe, coordinated, and buildable HVAC solutions for complex industrial projects. The role is responsible for developing and reviewing HVAC designs, calculations, equipment specifications, layouts, ventilation and pressurization systems, while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting project delivery. Extensive experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, industrial plants, offshore and onshore facilities, and FEED/EPC projects is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and review HVAC design basis, specifications, calculations, equipment sizing, data sheets, layouts, diagrams, and control documents.
• Perform HVAC load calculations, air-side and hydronic calculations, and verify equipment selection.
• Develop ventilation, pressurization, hazardous-area ventilation, and smoke management solutions.
• Prepare equipment requisitions, technical queries, and Technical Bid Evaluations for HVAC equipment and bulk materials.
• Review vendor and subcontractor documents and provide technical comments.
• Coordinate HVAC engineering activities with Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Safety, and Construction disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, API, GCC, and other applicable standards.
• Participate in design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and technical meetings.
• Support FAT, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Review technical changes, deviations, and engineering clarifications.
• Monitor assigned engineering activities and identify technical and schedule risks.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers.
• Support the HVAC Lead/Leader in delivering integrated, compliant, and constructable engineering solutions.
TECHNICAL SKILL
• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent HVAC-related qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional HVAC engineering experience, with at least 5 years in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or major industrial projects preferred.
• Proven experience in FEED and EPC projects, with offshore, onshore, GCC, and PMC experience desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, duct and pipe systems, ventilation, pressurization, and smoke management.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment specifications, technical requisitions, vendor document reviews, and Technical Bid Evaluations.
• Experience in developing and reviewing HVAC layouts, diagrams, control documents, I/O lists, and power consumption schedules.
• Strong understanding of applicable HVAC standards, including ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, API, GCC, and project-specific specifications.
• Proficient in HAP Carrier 6.x or equivalent HVAC calculation software.
• Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation is desirable.
• Strong multidisciplinary coordination, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to engineers and designers.
• Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and compliance with project requirements.
• Willingness to travel and work at construction sites when required.
