Desapex is hiring an HVAC Design Engineer for mission-critical data center project in Bengaluru.
Key Responsibilities- Design advanced cooling systems: CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, DX systems, liquid cooling (direct-to-chip, immersion)
- Perform cooling load calculations, psychrometric analysis, and CFD-based airflow simulations
- Develop redundant and resilient HVAC systems (N+1, 2N configurations)
- Plan hot aisle / cold aisle containment strategies and airflow optimization
- Create and manage BIM models (LOD 300–500) with full coordination across MEP services
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE TC 9.9, Tier I–IV standards, and Uptime Institute guidelines
- Integrate energy-efficient solutions: free cooling, economizers, heat recovery systems
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, and IT teams for rack densities, heat loads, and white space planning
- Support clash detection, design reviews, and constructability analysis
- Assist in vendor coordination, equipment selection, and technical submittals
- Contribute to commissioning, testing (FAT/SAT), and validation processes
- Develop as-built documentation and digital twin readiness for operations
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5–8 years of experience in HVAC design, preferably in data centers or mission-critical facilities
- Strong expertise in data center cooling technologies and high-density environments (rack-level cooling, liquid cooling trends)
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM workflows
- Experience with load calculation tools (HAP, Trace 700, IES, or similar) and CFD tools is a plus
- Knowledge of ASHRAE guidelines, Uptime Institute standards, and energy codes
- Understanding of PUE optimization, sustainability strategies, and lifecycle performance
- Familiarity with BMS/DCIM integration and controls for HVAC systems
- Strong coordination skills across MEP, architects, and client stakeholders
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-precision environments with tight timelines
