Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior GCP Developer / Support Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Python. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing GCP-based applications, data pipelines, and automation processes in a production environment. This role focuses on application support, incident resolution, and system reliability while driving automation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L2/L3 production support for GCP-hosted applications, data workflows, and APIs.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts for automation, data validation, and process monitoring.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, and IAM.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term solutions to recurring issues.
- Monitor performance, availability, and scalability of cloud-based applications.
- Work closely with DevOps, Data Engineering, and Development teams for deployment and environment management.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines for GCP workloads using tools like Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
- Ensure cost optimization, security compliance, and resource efficiency across GCP environments.
- Maintain detailed support documentation, including SOPs, incident logs, and technical notes.
- Participate in on-call rotation and change management processes for production systems.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in application or production support roles, with at least 3+ years in GCP environments.
- Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services – Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Cloud Storage.
- Hands-on experience with Python scripting for automation, API integration, and operational support.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis (BigQuery, PostgreSQL, or MySQL).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Stackdriver (Cloud Monitoring & Logging), Splunk, or Grafana.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix environments and Shell scripting.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Cloud Build) and version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, IAM policies, and security best practices in GCP.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Terraform or Deployment Manager for infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes (GKE) or Docker containerization.
- Exposure to data pipelines using Apache Beam, Airflow, or Composer.
- Experience in incident management and ITIL processes.
- Background in Agile and DevOps working environments
