Job Title: Senior Firmware & Power Engineer
Location: Peenya, Bangalore
Job Description: The Senior Firmware and Power Engineer will be responsible for the schematic design and layout of printed circuit boards for both digital control as well as for power management, such as DC-DC converters. Work will include prototyping and testing boards, while coordinating with the in-house C programmer for coding the STM32-based system boards. Work on DC-DC converters will include buck/boost designs for both low and higher voltage applications, beginning in the 500 watt to 3kW range, and later moving to higher output capacity.
More specifically the main tasks are:
· KiCad schematic capture for both digital and power designs
· KiCad physical layout of PCB boards
· Assisting team with parts specification and procurement needs for prototype fabrication
· Prototype soldering / desoldering for development
· Testing of digital operations (STM32) and communication with various devices (I2C, UART, Ethernet, Canbus, USB, etc.) to ensure proper board function
· Testing of power devices to assess losses, thermal management, high frequency noise and ringing for validation or corrective measures
· Troubleshooting and revision control and optimization of designs for iterative improvement
· Training of other junior team members or technicians for various tasks
· Setup of QC steps for completed PCBs for manufacturing team
Qualifications: A minimum of 15 years experience in designing, building and testing both digital as well as power devices is required. STM32 family microprocessor experience also a must. Must be adept at soldering/desoldering parts as part of the prototyping process. Proficiency in schematic capture and layout is essential.
