Company Description
Nexular builds connected mobility solutions for light electric vehicles - combining European-quality IoT hardware manufactured in India with native vehicle integration and an AI-powered fleet management platform.
Our end-to-end stack gives OEMs and fleet operators full asset visibility, real-time intelligence, and over-the-air update capability - reducing service costs and keeping vehicles performing at their best. By enabling leasing and subscription models, we help unlock the commercial structures that drive EV adoption in high-growth markets.
We work with 2- and 3-wheeler EV manufacturers across South-East Asia and Africa, delivering scalable, future-proof connectivity that turns vehicles into intelligent, revenue-generating assets.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our hardware team in Bengaluru and help shape the next generation of the Elevate Edge - our connected mobility platform powering electric vehicle fleets across India and Southeast Asia.
The Senior Firmware Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing embedded software and firmware for our IoT devices - taking ownership of the full firmware lifecycle from test to production deployment.
You'll work close to the metal: writing production firmware, debugging real hardware, and owning features end-to-end across a global team.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and test embedded software and firmware for IoT devices in a connected mobility environment
- Build and maintain vehicle bus integrations (CAN, RS485, and similar protocols)
- Implement Bluetooth LE features for device configuration and local communication
- Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues on live targets - not just in simulation
- Track, improve, and maintain the stability and efficiency of production code
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on bring-up and system-level debugging
- Contribute to a modern, quality-first codebase with an eye toward long-term maintainability
What we're looking for
- Hands-on experience with Rust for embedded development
- Solid understanding of the ESP32 ecosystem
- Experience with vehicle bus systems - CAN, RS485 or equivalent
- Proven ability to troubleshoot embedded targets at the hardware/firmware boundary
- Understanding of Bluetooth LE - protocol knowledge and practical implementation experience
- A mindset that values clean architecture, not just working code
- Seniority that shows - you've shipped firmware to production, not just prototypes
- Background in Electrical Engineering, especially in the context of IoT and connected devices
