Tasks:
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of crypto wallet balances (hot, warm, and cold storage) against the internal ledger and exchange sub-ledger.
Reconcile on-chain balances (using blockchain explorers and node/API data) with custodian statements and internal books across multiple chains and tokens.
Reconcile fiat bank accounts, payment gateways, and on/off-ramp providers against platform cash movements, including unsettled deposits and withdrawals.
Reconcile client asset/omnibus wallet balances against individual client entitlements while ensuring segregation of client funds from company funds.
Reconcile:
- Trading fee revenue
- Spread income
- Withdrawal fees
- Staking rewards
- Funding/interest income
- against exchange reports and the General Ledger.
Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks, including:
- Stuck transactions
- Missing memos/tags
- Chain reorganizations
- Orphaned deposits
- Dust balances
- Timing differences
Support Proof of Reserves exercises and periodic client asset attestations.
Required Experience & Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in finance/operations within: Cryptocurrency exchange, Digital asset custodian, OTC desk, Crypto-related business
- Demonstrated ownership of large-scale crypto reconciliations involving multiple assets and high transaction volumes.
- Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals: Wallet addresses, Transaction hashes, Confirmations, Memo/tag conventions, Gas fees
- Blockchain explorers (Etherscan, Blockchain.com, Solscan, etc.)
- Strong double-entry accounting knowledge.
- Experience supporting month-end close in a high-volume transactional business.
- Advanced Excel skills: Pivot Tables, Power Query, Large datasets
- Working knowledge of SQL or Python is highly desirable.
- Experience with: Xero, NetSuite, Similar accounting platforms
- Experience with crypto sub-ledger tools: Cryptio, Bitwave, Equivalent platforms
- Ability to document reconciliation issues and evidence resolutions.
- CA / CPA / CMA qualification (or part-qualified).
