About Nua
Nua is a venture-funded, direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand transforming women’s wellness in India.
Starting with our innovative, chemical-free and India’s only fully customisable sanitary pads, we are
on a mission to develop holistic and personalized solutions for solving real problems that women face.
We do this by building a wellness platform with great products, an impactful community and a
personalized customer experience. With a growing community of over 10 lakh women, we are already India’s largest and most engaged digital-first Fem-Tech brand.
Our story began with a pad. And not just any pad that could be picked off the shelves but one that
was truly thought around a woman’s needs. Since then, we have grown multi-fold with innovative,
inclusive and effective products that are Made Safe certified and backed by science. We continue to co-create products with our community and fuel the D2C revolution through deep consumer insights and investments in technology.
Nua has raised over $22 million in venture funding, backed by marquee investors including Lightbox Ventures, Kae Capital, Mirabilis Investment Trust, Deepika Padukone and Vindi Singh Banga, and Kamini Banga of the Banga family office. If you are as passionate as we are in making a difference and creating real impact in a fast-paced and wildly creative environment, then you might just be the person we are looking for.
Key Responsibilities
1. Book Closing & Financial Reporting
• Own and drive the end-to-end month-end and year-end close process – ensuring books
are closed accurately, on time, and with full supporting documentation.
• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, provisions, prepayments, depreciation,
and reclassifications, with proper audit trails.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all sub-ledgers (AP, fixed assets,
payroll, statutory) are in agreement with the trial balance.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis; identify, escalate, and
resolve open items promptly.
• Monitor and clear intercompany, suspense, and clearing accounts as part of every close
cycle.
• Prepare and maintain a month-end close checklist, tracking task completion across the
team and flagging blockers proactively.
• Support preparation of monthly financial statements and MIS packs including P&L,
balance sheet, and variance commentary for management review.
2. Risk & Internal Controls
• Design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls across key processes –
payables, payroll, fixed assets, statutory compliance, and general accounting.
• Prepare, own, and keep current a Risk & Control Matrix (RCM) for all finance sub-
processes, mapping risks, controls, control owners, and test frequency.
• Conduct periodic process walkthroughs and control testing to identify gaps, deficiencies,
or deviations from defined SOPs.
• Identify risks related to financial misstatement, process failure, or compliance breach
and escalate with actionable recommendations.
• Ensure maker-checker controls, approval matrices, and segregation of duties are enforced
consistently across financial transactions.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit cycles – providing schedules,
reconciliations, control evidence, and timely responses.
• Track, own, and close audit observations within agreed timelines, ensuring root-cause
resolution rather than point-in-time fixes.
• Drive SOP documentation and process standardisation across the accounting and
controls function.
3. Accounts Payable and Vendor Management
• Oversee and review the accounts payable process – ensuring timely and accurate
processing of vendor invoices and payments.
• Perform and review vendor account reconciliations and resolve disputes or mismatches
proactively.
• Monitor AP ageing and ensure outstanding liabilities are correctly classified and provisioned.
• Ensure 3-way matching controls (PO – GRN – Invoice) are in place and consistently
followed for all vendor payments.
What We Look For
• 5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial control roles, with
demonstrable ownership of the month-end close process.
• Strong hands-on experience in book closing, GL accounting, journal entry review, and
balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proven exposure to internal controls, risk assessment, RCM preparation, and audit
coordination.
• Familiarity with Risk & Control Matrices, SOPs, and process documentation.
• Working knowledge of Tally.
• High attention to detail, analytical rigour, and a strong sense of process ownership and
accountability.
• Ability to proactively identify risks, question practices, and drive controls-based
improvements.
• Comfortable managing multiple deliverables under tight month-end closing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• B. Com / M. Com / Semi-qualified CA / MBA (Finance)
• CA Inter or CA Final preferred, given the controls and audit focus of the role
• Prior experience in a D2C, e-commerce, or high-growth startup environment is a plus
• Background from Big 4 or mid-sized audit/consulting firms is an advantage.
