HR Executive | Mehta & Sons, Mumbai
Mehta & Sons, a premium bespoke jewellery house based in Kala Ghoda, is looking for an experienced HR professional to become our dedicated HR function, built from the ground up.
About the Role
The HR Executive will manage end-to-end HR functions across both our manufacturing and retail operations. This is a true IC role with full ownership across talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, HR compliance, training & development, and HR operations — all while staying aligned with our luxury brand culture and standards.
We're looking for someone who understands retail workforce dynamics, jewellery manufacturing HR practices, and employee lifecycle management within a luxury environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Set up a recruitment SOP with clear timelines and systems for manpower requirements
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for retail stores, corporate office, and manufacturing units
- Partner with department heads to understand manpower needs and prepare workforce planning & budgets for management review
- Source, screen, and shortlist candidates through job portals, recruitment agencies, and professional networks
- Coordinate interviews and ensure smooth onboarding of new hires
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Handle onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exit formalities
- Maintain and update employee records and HR documentation
- Ensure a smooth employee experience throughout the lifecycle
Performance Management
- Implement and monitor the Performance Management System (PMS)
- Assist managers in goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans
- Track employee performance and support performance improvement initiatives
- Set up PIPs wherever required
Training & Development
- Identify training needs across manufacturing and retail teams
- Coordinate programs covering product knowledge, sales excellence, customer service, and leadership development
- Create a detailed training plan with management to upskill employees functionally and holistically
- Monitor training effectiveness and employee skill development
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Develop initiatives to improve employee engagement, motivation, and retention
- Organise engagement activities, recognition programs, and internal communication initiatives
- Foster a positive workplace culture aligned with luxury retail brand values
- Handle grievances, maintain incident reports, and conduct process audits
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and statutory regulations applicable to manufacturing and retail
- Maintain HR policies and ensure adherence across departments
- Coordinate with payroll, attendance, and leave management processes
HR Analytics & Reporting
- Prepare HR reports covering attrition, recruitment metrics, manpower analysis, and engagement indicators
- Provide insights and recommendations to leadership
Retail HR Support
- Manage HR needs for store operations including staffing, scheduling, and performance monitoring
- Support retail expansion projects with manpower planning and hiring
- Support event organisation and retail projects as and when required
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of HR practices in luxury retail or jewellery manufacturing
- Excellent recruitment and talent acquisition skills
- Sound knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across retail and manufacturing teams
- Proficiency in HRMS systems and MS Office
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity
- Strategic thinking with a proactive attitude toward ownership
- Willingness to learn and take on cross-functional projects
- Someone wanting to grow with a company long term
Qualifications
- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent
- Preferred: certification in HR analytics, labour laws, or talent management
- 4–7 years of experience, preferably in luxury retail, gems & jewellery, or a mid-size family-managed business
Location: Kala Ghoda, South Mumbai (Near Gateway of India)
