Job Title: Senior Executive /Assistant Director

Job Purpose
Senior Executive / Assistant Director will support and drive ASSOCHAM’s Logistics, Infrastructure, Ports and Shipping initiatives by acting as a key bridge between industry stakeholders and government authorities. The role will focus on strengthening policy advocacy, enabling industry participation, facilitating investment and PPP opportunities, and promoting India’s competitiveness in logistics, multimodal transport, maritime trade, port-led development and infrastructure growth.
Key Responsibilities
•Support and coordinate ASSOCHAM’s Logistics, Ports & Shipping Council activities, ensuring strong industry engagement and sectoral impact.
•Policy advocacy and industry representation with Ministries/Departments such as MoPSW, MoR, MoCA, DPIIT, MoRTH, NITI Aayog, Customs, and State Governments.
•Facilitate collaboration between logistics companies, port operators, shipping lines, freight forwarders, infrastructure developers, exporters/importers and technology providers.
•Support development of PPP and investment-focused initiatives in ports, terminals, inland waterways, logistics parks, multimodal hubs and warehousing ecosystems.
•Organise high-impact conferences, roundtables, CEO forums, B2B meetings, stakeholder consultations and delegations with domestic and international participation.
•Develop knowledge reports, sector notes, whitepapers and recommendations on key themes such as freight efficiency, ease of doing business, EXIM logistics, coastal shipping and multimodal connectivity.
•Enable industry-driven solutions for improving port efficiency, cargo evacuation, last-mile connectivity, digitalisation and green logistics.
Engage with global institutions and embassies to promote international partnerships and trade facilitation initiatives.
•Work on sponsorship development and strategic partnerships for ASSOCHAM events and projects in logistics and infrastructure domain.
•Monitor policy updates, track sector developments and prepare briefings for leadership and member companies.
Education and Experience
•Master’s degree in business administration, Public Policy, Infrastructure Planning, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Transport Economics or related field.
•5–10 years of relevant experience in logistics, ports, shipping, infrastructure development, multimodal transport, freight operations, policy or industry bodies.
•Proven experience working with government stakeholders, port authorities, industry leaders and infrastructure developers.
•Experience in policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, conference management and industry representation is highly desirable.
•Exposure to PPP projects, port-led development, EXIM trade logistics, and freight ecosystem will be an advantage.
Skills (Soft and Functional)
•Strong understanding of logistics, ports, shipping, EXIM trade, infrastructure and multimodal transport ecosystem
•Stakeholder management and ability to engage senior government and industry leaders
•Policy drafting, representation writing and consultation management
•Event and program leadership for conferences and industry forums
•Sponsorship and partnership development capability
Strong communication and networking skills
•Analytical mindset for preparing reports, sector insights and recommendations
•Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment
IT Skills
•Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
•Basic knowledge of email and calendar management tools.
•Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet).
•Online research skills for gathering industry data and policy updates.
•Basic understanding of digital tools and AI platforms.
