Position Title : Senior ERP Next / Frappe HRMS Developer.
Role Focus : Custom code development and system integrations. Functional ownership, process design and user adoption rest with the internal HR functional team.
Candidate Background: ERP Next / Frappe HRMS only. Experience on other ERP or HRMS platforms is not accepted as a substitute. See Section 2.
Experience: 5–10 years overall, of which a minimum of 4 years must be hands-on custom development on ERP Next / Frappe HRMS.
Qualification: B.E. / B. Tech / MCA / M.Sc. (Computer Science) or equivalent technical qualification.
- Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced ERP Next / Frappe HRMS Developer to design, build, integrate and maintain custom functionality on the organization's Frappe-based Human Resource Management System. This is a hands-on software development position. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time writing, reviewing and debugging code.
- Functional ownership of the HRMS — requirement definition, process design, module configuration, user acceptance and end-user adoption — is retained by the organization's internal HR functional team. This role receives approved functional specifications and is accountable for translating them into working, tested, documented and upgrade-safe software.
- The role spans the full application stack: server-side development in Python on the Frappe Framework, Java for integration services and vendor SDK adapters, and front-end development in JavaScript, Vue.js and Frappe UI. It carries primary technical accountability for three integration domains — biometric attendance devices, the core financial system, and enterprise identity and Single Sign-On.
- This is a senior individual-contributor position. The successful candidate is expected to work without supervision on the technical delivery, to set the standard for code quality within the HRMS code base, and to conduct code review and technical mentoring for junior developers.
Candidate Background Requirement — Mandatory
This position requires a candidate whose professional background is specifically in ERP Next / Frappe HRMS. This is a non-negotiable eligibility criterion and not a preference. Applications that do not satisfy it will not be progressed.
What Is Required
• A minimum of 4 years of continuous, hands-on custom development on ERP Next / Frappe HRMS in a production environment, within the last 5 years.
• Demonstrable authorship of custom Frappe applications, Doctypes and server-side code on the HR and Payroll modules specifically — not on Accounts, Manufacturing, CRM or other ERP Next modules alone.
•Direct working experience of the Frappe HR module suite — Payroll, Shift & Attendance, Leaves, Employee Lifecycle, Tax & Benefits, Expense Claims, Recruitment and Performance.
• Practical experience of the Frappe Framework internals as applied to HRMS problems — Salary Slip and Salary Structure controllers, Employee Check-in, Leave Ledger Entry, Attendance generation, and the permission model as it applies to salary confidentiality.
• Experience supporting live payroll cycles on ERP Next from a technical standpoint.
The following backgrounds, however strong in isolation, do not meet the eligibility criterion for this position:
• Other ERP platforms — SAP, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle, Oracle Fusion HCM, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, Tally or similar. The Frappe Framework is architecturally distinct, and the skills are not directly transferable.
•Other HRMS or payroll products — Darwinbox, Keka, Zoho People, ‘greytHR, People Strong, Workday, ADP, Ramco or similar. Product configuration experience on these platforms is not development experience on Frappe.
• ERP Next experience on non-HR modules only — a candidate who has worked exclusively on Accounts, Stock, Manufacturing, Selling or CRM does not meet the HRMS requirement, notwithstanding genuine Frappe Framework capability.
•ERP Next configuration or functional consulting without development — a candidate whose contribution has been limited to Custom Fields, Client Scripts, Print Formats and module setup is a configurator and does not meet the development requirement.
•General Python or full-stack development without ERP Next — strong engineers from a non-Frappe background require a ramp-up period this position cannot accommodate.
•Academic, training-course or self-study exposure to ERP Next without production delivery.
Candidates must be able to evidence the background requirement at the point of application. The following will be sought:
• The name and purpose of at least one custom Frappe application authored by the candidate for an HR or Payroll requirement.
• The ERP Next / Frappe versions worked on, and whether a major-version upgrade was performed with custom applications installed.
• The employee headcount and payroll volume of the ERP Next HRMS installations supported.
• The duration and continuity of ERP Next HRMS engagement, with dates.
• Where available, a GitHub repository, published application or Frappe community profile.
Where a candidate's ERP Next HRMS experience is genuine but partial — for example strong Frappe development on other modules with limited HR exposure — this should be surfaced at screening rather than at offer stage, and referred to the Head of ERP & Enterprise Applications for a decision.
Key Responsibilities- Custom Application Development.
• Design, develop, test and maintain custom Frappe applications — DocTypes, child tables, Custom Fields, Property Setters, controller classes and document lifecycle hooks (validate, before save, on submit, on cancel, on_update_after_submit).
•Develop custom business logic, validation rules, computed fields, approval routing, automation and scheduled processing in accordance with the functional specifications provided.
•Build custom Query Reports and Script Reports, Dashboards, Charts and Number Cards, and the underlying data queries that serve them.
•Develop custom Print Formats, letterheads, payslip templates and document layouts using Jinja.
•Author patches and data migration scripts for schema and data changes, written to be idempotent and safely re-runnable.
•Deliver all customization through versioned custom applications rather than direct core modification, ensuring the code base remains upgrade-safe across Frappe / ERP Next major versions.
•Maintain engineering discipline — Git branching and pull requests, peer code review, semantic versioning, unit and regression testing, and documented rollback procedures.
•Estimate development effort, break specifications into technical tasks, and deliver against an agreed sprint or release schedule.
Backend Development -Python % Java.
• Write clean, modular, object-oriented Python for all server-side logic — controllers, whitelisted methods, background and scheduled jobs, service classes and utility libraries.
•Implement safe and performant data access using frappe. dB, the Query Builder and parameterised SQL; eliminate injection risk and avoid N+1 query patterns.
•Design and implement server-side REST API endpoints with appropriate authentication, authorization, idempotency, rate limiting, structured logging and error handling.
•Build and maintain Java services, adapters and SDK wrappers where a counterpart system, biometric device or financial application exposes only a Java interface or JDBC connectivity.
•Manage background processing — worker queues, Redis, the Frappe scheduler, long-running jobs, retry semantics and failure handling.
•Write unit tests for business-critical logic, particularly payroll computation, statutory calculation and integration transformation.
•Profile and optimize server-side performance — slow queries, missing indexes, queue backlogs and memory behaviour.
Frontend Development- JavaScript, Vue.Js & Frappe UI.
•Develop client-side functionality in JavaScript (ES6+) and jQuery — Client Scripts, form and list view behaviour, the frm API, custom buttons and actions, custom dialogs, dynamic field behaviour and link query filters.
•Build and extend Vue.js interfaces on Frappe UI for the Employee Self-Service portal, the Frappe HR experience and custom single-page applications.
•Develop custom web forms, portal pages and website components using the Frappe portal framework.
•Implement client-side validation, asynchronous server calls and responsive error handling without blocking the user interface.
•Ensure responsive, cross-browser and mobile-appropriate behaviour for all employee-facing interfaces.
•Build custom list views, report views, charts and visualizations for operational and management reporting.
Payroll & Statutory Logic Development.
Biometric & Attendance Device Integration.
Enterprise Integration — Core Financial & Business Systems
Identity, Access Management & Single Sign-On
Database, Data Migration & Performance Engineering
