Integration Lead – Enterprise Integration & SAP CPI
Job Purpose
The Integration Lead – Enterprise Integration & SAP CPI is a senior Domain Guide (SME) responsible for leading enterprise-wide integration initiatives across APIs, middleware, SAP Integration Suite (SAP CPI), messaging platforms, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
This role acts as the technical and functional link between business collaborators, architects, customers, and development teams to build, govern, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing integration solutions. The Integration Lead will own integration architecture, implementation governance, technical leadership, and operational perfection across hybrid and cloud integration landscapes.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in enterprise integration patterns, reusable integration frameworks, API-led connectivity, SAP CPI, middleware technologies, and cloud-native integration services, while also guiding development teams and mentoring non-integration developers in enterprise integration standard processes.
Technical Skills
Required Skills and Experience
- SME in enterprise integration architecture and solution design with the ability to design highly scalable integrations involving APIs, messaging, files, databases, SAP and non-SAP applications, and cloud-based services.
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP Integration Suite / SAP CPI, including:
- iFlows
- API Management
- Event-driven integrations
- B2B/EDI integrations
- Open Connectors
- Integration monitoring and operational support
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration frameworks, reusable integration components, canonical data models, orchestration patterns, and integration governance practices.
- Proficiency in one or more integration frameworks and middleware technologies such as:
- Apache Camel
- Spring Integration
- MuleSoft
- Azure Integration Services
- Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
- Message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of API design and development principles including REST, SOAP, OData, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience integrating SAP and non-SAP systems including S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Salesforce, and third-party enterprise applications.
- Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native integration services on Azure, AWS, and SAP BTP.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and integration lifecycle management.
- Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Python, Groovy, JavaScript, or PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of integration security standards and guidelines including OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS, SAML, and API security.
- Experience in monitoring, fixing, and optimizing enterprise integrations and middleware environments.

Key Responsibilities
Integration Leadership & Governance
- Lead enterprise integration strategy and architecture across SAP CPI, APIs, middleware, messaging, and cloud integration platforms.
- Define reusable integration frameworks, standards, governance models, and enterprise integration standard methodologies.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to integration developers and project teams.
- Ensure enterprise integrations are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Customer & Collaborator Engagement
- Build and maintain positive relationships with business collaborators, customers, vendors, and technology partners.
- Conduct detailed requirements gathering and solution workshops.
- Translate sophisticated business and technical requirements into clear integration specifications and solution builds.
- Serve as the primary integration lead throughout the project lifecycle.
Solution Build & Architecture
- Build end-to-end integration solutions using SAP CPI, APIs, middleware technologies, and messaging platforms.
- Architect hybrid integration scenarios involving cloud and on-premise systems.
- Design reusable APIs, integration services, canonical models, and event-driven architectures.
- Ensure integration solutions align with enterprise security, compliance, scalability, and performance standards.
Technical Delivery & Operations
- Lead and support implementation of enterprise integration solutions across SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Coordinate development, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
- Fix and resolve complex integration and middleware issues.
- Monitor, optimize, and continuously improve integration performance and operational stability.
- Support CI/CD and DevOps practices for integration delivery and deployment automation.
Teamwork & Knowledge Sharing
- Collaborate optimally with architecture, development, infrastructure, operations, security, and product teams.
- Mentor junior developers and guide non-integration developers on enterprise integration principles and practices.
- Promote reusable integration patterns and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with emerging integration technologies, SAP Integration Suite improvements, and industry standard processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- SAP CPI / SAP Integration Suite certification preferred.
- TOGAF, Azure, AWS, or middleware certifications are helpful.
- Experience in enterprise architecture and large-scale digital transformation programs is helpful.
Experience
- 10+ years of proven experience in enterprise integration development, middleware technologies, and solution architecture.
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience with SAP CPI / SAP Integration Suite.
- Validated experience leading enterprise integration initiatives sophisticated hybrid cloud environments.
