Job Purpose
The Senior Engineer – Production Planning & Control (PPC) will be responsible for planning,
scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring production activities for EWIS manufacturing operations. The role ensures optimum utilization of resources, timely availability of materials, adherence to production schedules, and achievement of customer delivery commitments while maintaining quality, cost, and productivity objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning
- Develop production plans based on customer forecasts and confirmed customer orders.
- Convert customer demand into daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Balance production loads across manufacturing lines to maximize throughput and resource utilization.
- Monitor schedule adherence and proactively address production constraints.
Material Planning
- Generate and monitor material shortage reports.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials and bought-out components.
- Work closely with Supply Chain to avoid production disruptions due to material shortages.
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimum stock while minimizing excess inventory.
Production Coordination
- Coordinate daily with Production Supervisors to execute production plans effectively.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve production efficiency and optimize workflows.
- Ensure smooth coordination among Production, Quality, Engineering, Stores, Procurement, and Logistics teams.
Customer Delivery Management
- Ensure customer orders are acknowledged on time.
- Provide accurate delivery commitments based on production capacity and material availability.
- Monitor production progress and take corrective actions to achieve 100% On-Time Delivery (OTD).
- Support customer schedule changes through effective production replanning.
Engineering Change Management
- Ensure timely implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
- Coordinate with Engineering and Production teams to implement revisions without impacting customer deliveries.
Process Improvement
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives within Production Planning.
- Implement and sustain Kanban systems to improve material flow and inventory management.
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce lead times.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
Reporting & MIS
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production planning reports.
- Track key planning metrics including:
- Production Schedule Adherence
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Material Availability
- Capacity Utilization
- Work-in-Progress (WIP)
- Inventory Levels
- Present planning performance reports to Operations leadership.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and planning standards.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and aerospace quality management requirements.
- Maintain planning documentation and production records as per company procedures.
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
- Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
Experience
- 4–8 years of experience in Production Planning & Control within:
- Aerospace
- Defence
- EWIS / Wiring Harness Manufacturing
- Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS)
- Automotive Wiring Harness
- High-mix manufacturing environments
- Experience in customer schedule management and production planning.
- Exposure to ERP-based production planning is mandatory.
