About The Role
We are seeking a
Senior Engineer II, Software Test to lead the quality strategy and execution for the EcoStruxure Building Data Platform and our Connector Hosting Solution, with a specialized focus on Connector Extensions.
This role spans event‑driven IoT data ingestion, ETL-style transformations, cloud‑native distributed systems, and security‑focused V&V. You will design and execute comprehensive test plans, build automation frameworks using
c# and playwright, validate high‑volume data flows, and ensure that new Connector Extensions meet functional, performance, reliability, and security requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning
- Develop and own end‑to‑end test strategies for BDP, Connector Hosting, and Connector Extensions across functional, performance, data‑quality, and security dimensions.
- Define and maintain test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria mapped to requirements, event-driven behavior, and threat‑model considerations.
- Lead risk‑based testing including prioritization of high‑impact components.
Execution: Manual, Automated & Security V&V Testing
- Execute system, integration, regression, data‑flow/ETL, and event-driven workflow tests.
- Validate connector behavior across IoT protocols, ingestion pipelines, metadata mapping, and transformations.
- Perform Security Verification & Validation (V&V) activities including:
- Authentication & authorization testing
- Role-based access control (RBAC) verification
- API and service‑level security testing
- Data‑protection and encryption‑in‑transit/at‑rest validation
- Vulnerability assessment support and validation of remediations
- Security regression testing as part of ongoing releases
- Conduct performance, load, fault‑injection, and degradation‑scenario testing.
- Support validation of cloud‑native deployments and service hardening.
Automation & Tooling
- Build, maintain, and expand automated test frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines using c# and Playwright.
- Automate API, connector lifecycle, event‑driven pipeline, and data‑validation testing.
- Integrate automated security checks (static, dynamic, dependency scanning) into test pipelines.
- Drive observability and instrumentation for data‑quality and security‑signal validation.
Collaboration & Engineering Excellence
- Partner with engineering to embed testability and security early in design.
- Work with IoT integration teams to simulate edge‑to‑cloud and cross-protocol scenarios.
- Contribute to threat modeling and security‑centric design reviews where needed.
- Coach teams on quality and security best practices.
Quality Operations & Reporting
- Log, triage, and track defects across functional, data‑quality, and security categories.
- Produce clear reporting and insights for readiness reviews.
- Support pre‑release security and functional validation for new extensions and deployments.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software testing experience within distributed, event‑driven, or IoT systems.
- Strong hands‑on testing skills across:
- Event‑driven or streaming architectures
- IoT ingestion pipelines and ETL-style transformations
- API, microservices, and multi-cloud environments
- Security testing of cloud-native applications and APIs
- Experience with automated test frameworks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and automated security scanning.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with building/industrial data platforms.
- Knowledge of IoT protocols (MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA).
- Experience with security frameworks (OWASP, threat modeling, secure SDLC).
- Familiarity with semantic data layers such as Brick, Haystack or similar metadata frameworks.
- Prior work on ETL connectors, integration platforms, or data ingestion systems.
Impact of the Role
You will ensure the quality, security, and reliability of a mission-critical data platform supporting global building portfolios and millions of IoT data points. This role is essential to guaranteeing trust, stability, and security across our connector ecosystem.
