We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Embedded Linux / BSP Engineer with 8+ years of hands-on experience in Embedded Linux development. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Linux Kernel, Device Drivers, Board Support Packages (BSP), Yocto Project, bootloaders, and hardware bring-up.
The candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, debugging, and optimizing Linux-based embedded platforms and should be comfortable working closely with hardware, firmware, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, develop, customize, and maintain Embedded Linux BSPs for various hardware platforms.
· Perform Linux Kernel configuration, customization, integration, debugging, and optimization.
· Develop and maintain Linux kernel device drivers for embedded peripherals and interfaces.
· Perform board bring-up for new hardware platforms, including boot-level debugging and peripheral validation.
· Customize and maintain Yocto-based Linux distributions.
· Develop and maintain Yocto recipes, layers, configurations, and BitBake files.
· Work with bootloaders such as U-Boot, including configuration, customization, and debugging.
· Develop and modify Device Tree (DTS/DTSI) configurations.
· Integrate and debug peripherals including I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, USB, Ethernet, PCIe, CAN, and other hardware interfaces.
· Debug kernel crashes, boot failures, driver issues, memory problems, and system-level performance issues.
· Analyze kernel logs, crash dumps, stack traces, and hardware-level issues.
· Work closely with hardware engineers during schematic review, board bring-up, and hardware/software integration.
· Optimize Linux boot time, memory utilization, CPU performance, and overall system stability.
· Integrate third-party libraries, packages, drivers, and middleware into embedded Linux platforms.
· Perform root-cause analysis of complex system-level issues and provide robust technical solutions.
· Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
· Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on Linux kernel, BSP, and driver development.
· Maintain technical documentation related to BSP releases, drivers, build environments, and platform configurations.Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.
Preferred Experience
· Experience with ARM/ARM64-based embedded platforms.
· Experience with SoCs from platforms such as NXP, Qualcomm, TI, NVIDIA, Renesas, STMicroelectronics, or similar.
· Experience in BSP porting from one hardware platform or kernel version to another.
· Experience with Linux kernel upstreaming and patch management.
· Knowledge of secure boot, firmware update mechanisms, and embedded Linux security.
· Experience with real-time Linux or PREEMPT_RT is an advantage.
· Exposure to CI/CD and automated build/test environments for embedded Linux is desirable.
